Near-optimal piecewise linear fits of static pushover capacity curves for equivalent SDOF analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The piecewise linear ('multilinear') approximation of realistic force-deformation capacity curves is investigated for structural systems incorporating generalized plastic, hardening, and negative stiffness behaviors.

The Consideration of Response Modification Factor of L-Shaped Structures by Using Adaptive Pushover Analysis Method and Comparison with Traditional Pushover Method

open access: yesCivil Engineering Journal, 2018
In the most of regulations, reduction factor of seismic force depends only on the kind of lateral loading system, but research has shown that this factor is a function of many factors such as period and modal characteristics of the structure, the height and especially form of plan in the building.

Potential for Reducing Emissions by Regulating O2, CO, and H2O in the Recirculation Gas in Iron Ore Sintering

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study investigates the potential for reducing emissions during the sintering process by selectively adjusting the O2, CO, and H2O content in the recirculation gas. Adjusting these components positively affects the sintering process, enabling the coke breeze content in the sinter mixture to be reduced.

The Global Earthquake Model Physical Vulnerability Database [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
There are almost 50 years of research on fragility and vulnerability assessment, both key elements in seismic risk or loss estimation. This paper presents the online database of physical vulnerability models that has been created as part of the Global ...

An effective load increment method for multi modal adaptive pushover analysis of buildings

open access: yesStructural Engineering and Mechanics, 2007
In this study, an effective load increment method for multi modal adaptive non-linear static (pushover) analysis (NSA) for building type structures is presented. In the method, lumped plastisicity approach is adopted and geometrical non-linearties (second-order effects) are included.

Bond‐slip modeling for reinforced concrete beam‐column joints with plain reinforcement bars: Insights from numerical validation

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract The previous seismic events indicated the vulnerability of old reinforced concrete (RC) structures against earthquakes due to the absence of seismic detailing and capacity design specifications in such buildings. In this context, beam‐column joints (BCJ) of the existing RC structures built before the 1970s have exhibited poor structural ...

Introducing Adaptive Incremental Dynamic Analysis: A New Tool for Linking Ground Motion Selection and Structural Response Assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Adaptive Incremental Dynamic Analysis (AIDA) is a novel ground motion selection scheme that adaptively changes the ground motion suites at different ground motion intensity levels to match hazardconsistent properties for structural response assessment ...

The Trajectory of an Agreement: Tracing Objectivated Knowledge Across a Series of Mundane Encounters

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
This article adds to the sociological study of time and temporality in everyday life by building on recent longitudinal developments within conversation analysis. It investigates members' methods to bring about change within their shared (life) world. It examines how, as part of an extended project of action, one agreement made early on is continually ...

Gas check prevention during calendering of poly(vinyl chloride) films using poly(caprolactone)‐based additives

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 441-452, March 2025.
Three poly(caprolactone) (PCL)‐based additives of differing molecular weights were used as a secondary plasticizer to prevent gas checks in PVC films produced through calendering. Results showed that chemical and physicochemical properties influence the prevention or reduction of gas checks, unlike rheological properties including complex viscosity and
