An Evaluation of the Adaptive Reuse of Abandoned Buildings [PDF]

open access: yesصفه
Controlling the contaminants caused by the building industry has been one of the most significant concerns of the last decade. Like any other product, the making of a building takes raw materials and renewable and non-renewable energy, with the growth in

PASTA‐ELN: Simplifying Research Data Management for Experimental Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Research data management faces ongoing hurdles as many ELNs remain complex and restrictive. PASTA‐ELN offers an open‐source, cross‐platform solution that prioritizes simplicity, offline access, and user control. Its in tuitive folder structure, modular Python add‐ons, and open formats enable seamless documentation, FAIR data practices, and easy ...

Supporting authoring of adaptive hypermedia [PDF]

open access: yes
It is well-known that students benefit from personalised attention. However, frequently teachers are unable to provide this, most often due to time constraints.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Adaptive Reuse

open access: yes, 2020

Regrowing Community by Reappropriating Built History: Adaptive Reuse of the Hahne's Department Store in Newark, NJ.

open access: yes, 2011
Newark, New Jersey has endured large scale depopulation from 1930 through to 2000. Today the urban core of this city suffers from great social and cultural segregation between residents and daytime visiting populations who work in the city.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Retail-Reuse: an interior view on adaptive reuse of buildings

open access: yes, 2014
AdapTIve reuse, which implies partly changing the function and programme of a building and physically adapting it to new needs and requirements, has become an increasingly important part of contemporary architectural and interior architectural practice ...

Manual and automatic authoring for adaptive hypermedia [PDF]

open access: yes
Adaptive Hypermedia allows online content to be tailored specifically to the needs of the user. This is particularly valuable in educational systems, where a student might benefit from a learning experience which only displays (or recommends) content ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.
