Reinforcement learning for adaptive traffic signal control

2014
Traffic signal control is very important to urban development. Most of the governments in developed countries continue to improve the safety as well as efficiency of their traffic signal control systems. In a well-designed traffic control system, fewer traffic accidents will occur. Moreover, the vehicle waiting times can also be shortened.

Signalling pathways controlling bacterial adaptation

2009
The conversion of environmental signals into cellular responses is a critically important process that occurs in all organisms. The ability to process information depends, in general, on complex signal transduction and regulatory networks that control genes required to cope with certain environmental conditions.

Adaptive traffic signal control using fuzzy logic

Proceedings of the Intelligent Vehicles `92 Symposium, 2003
Presents a distributed approach to traffic signal control, where the signal timing parameters are a given intersection are adjusted as functions of the local traffic condition and of the signal timing parameters at adjacent intersections. The signal timing at an intersection is defined by three parameters: cycle time, phase split, and offset.

Applications in Signal Processing and Adaptive Control

1997
Adaptive control and communication theory provide numerous examples of the practical and effective use of stochastic approximation-type algorithms, and there is a large amount of literature concerning them. Only a few references will be listed. Despite the identity in form, whether the algorithms are actually called stochastic approximations depends on

New Normalizing Signals for Robust Adaptive Control

1991 American Control Conference, 1991
This paper presents some new normalizing signals for the design of robust adaptive control schemes for plants with unmodeled dynamics and bounded disturbances. The stability margin of the unmodeled dynamics is not needed to generate the normalizing signal.

Optimal Signal Control Using Adaptive Dynamic Programming

2005
This paper develops an adaptive, optimal planning algorithm for signal control at a single intersection using an efficient dynamic programming technique. It is called ADPAS (Adaptive Dynamic Programming Algorithm for Signaling). The objective of ADPAS is to minimize the total delay experienced by vehicles passing through an intersection.

Adaptive Traffic Signaling Control Using SUMO Simulator

In today's world, transportation vehicles are essential for meeting mobility needs and moving goods efficiently. To reduce average waiting times across varying traffic flow rates, a two-stage, three-module fuzzy logic system has been developed for real-time management of signalized junctions.
