Ada is really an unfortunate Lady. After years fighting against C/C++ villains, her major lift-up (Ada 95) had brought up a promise of fortune. However, a new strong villain (Java) has appeared trying to end her struggle for survival.Ada has now to fight with her own weapons. She will only prosper by her own merits. But two questions emerge.

The Ada programming language has been in use for 12 years and a major revision of the language, now called Ada 95, was adopted as a new international standard on 15 February 1995. There have been many accounts of the use of Ada 83 in a wide variety of applications but little has been published about the construction, performance and correctness of Ada ...

ACM SIGAda Ada Letters, 1981
This paper discusses (1) some general concepts of design languages, (2) the development of the specific design language denoted as PDL/Ada, (3) the specific features of PDL/Ada, and (4) some problems encountered and techniques used in defining PDL/Ada. An appendix shows two examples. Because of space constraints, each of these items can only be touched

Ada is a modern high order programming language that has been developed by the U.S. Department of Defense for use in embedded computer applications. Such applications are typically large, volatile and long-lived. Facilities for such features as real-time and parallel processing, fail-soft execution, exception handling and the control of a wide variety ...

There is a need in the development of software systems for the utilization of capabilities which are not inherently supported by a chosen development language. In order to overcome this deficiency in a cost-effective manner, bindings are required. This article will discuss bindings, how software systems used external capabilities in the past, how the ...
