Abstract Eddy‐resolving numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the effects of density contrast between the confluent flows on hydrodynamics, coherent structures and mixing downstream of the confluence between the Negro and Solimões Rivers, Brazil, which is characterized by both a large discharge (>100,000 m3/s) and a large aspect‐ratio (W/D

Novel drugs approved by the EMA, the FDA and the MHRA in 2025: A year in review
Abstract In the 2025 novel drug mini‐review, one can take a full measure of the ingenuity that underlies current drug design and development, despite the year's smaller harvest (46 novel drugs) compared to 2024 (53) and 2023 (70). 54% of the novel drugs are first‐in‐class (FIC).

Evaluation of a Model for Predicting the Tidal Velocity in Fjord Entrances
Sufficiently accurate and low-cost estimation of tidal velocities is of importance when evaluating a potential site for a tidal energy farm. Here we suggest and evaluate a model to calculate the tidal velocity in fjord entrances.

Bacteria as Passive Passengers in the Equatorial Pacific Biological Carbon Pump
Abstract Bacteria are important agents modulating the efficiency of the ocean's biological carbon pump (BCP). The long‐standing view considers bacteria as degraders of sinking particulate organic carbon (POC), yet underappreciates their contribution to carbon export.

Nitrate Distribution in Pacific Winter Water Along the Northern Edge of the Chukchi Sea
Abstract Nutrient‐rich, Pacific‐origin winter water (PWW) is a primary source of nitrate for the western Arctic Ocean, spurring primary production at the base of the food web. This cold water exits the Chukchi Sea shelf via Herald Canyon and Barrow Canyon, which feed the eastward‐flowing Chukchi Shelfbreak Jet (CSJ) and the westward‐flowing Chukchi ...

A comparison between vertical motions measured by ADCP and inferred from temperature data [PDF]
Combined vertical current (w) and thermistor string data demonstrate that high-, near-buoyancy frequency internal "wave" trains along a pycnocline in a flat-bottom shelf sea consist for 2 periods of a dominant mode-1 non-linear part, while ...
