A study of estuarine flow using the roving adcp data

Ocean Science Journal, 2008
A study of estuarine flows during a neap tide was performed using 13-hour roving acoustic Doppler current profiles (ADCP) and conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) profiles in the Altamaha River estuary, Georgia, U.S.A. The least-squared harmonic analysis method was used to fit the tidal (M2) component and separate the flow into two components: the ...

ADCP's Gravity waves data processing with wavelet Matched Phase Method

OCEANS'11 MTS/IEEE KONA, 2011
This work uses data from Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), which form a spatial arrangement (array) of 12 sensors placed near the sea surface, to determine the directional wave spectrum by a new schema for data processing, named Matched Phase Method - MPM, that also utilizes the wavelet Data Analysis with Adaptive Technique (DAAT).

Comparison between HF radar current data and moored ADCP currentmeter

Il Nuovo Cimento C, 2005
A preliminary assessment of accuracy of a two-sites shore-based HF Radar network along the Venice Lagoon littoral was attempted by means of comparison with a 57.5 day-long ADCP current time series for the period September-October 2002. Results showed that radar measurements were accurate (< 7 cm/s) in more than 50% of the times, since more than 50% of ...

Improved underway ADCP data quality through precise heading measurement

Proceedings of OCEANS '93, 2002
Acoustic Doppler current profilers provide valuable data on ocean currents from ships whilst underway, and they are a valuable tool when used in conjunction with high resolution hydrography. One of the main difficulties in using ADCP data to estimate mean cross-track currents (and hence transport) is the error in the conversion from ship to Earth ...

Using 3DF GPS Heading for Improving Underway ADCP Data

Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 1994
Abstract Systematic error in the cross-track velocity measured under way from shipboard acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) can be attributed to error in measuring the ship's heading with a gyrocompass. Drift- and direction-dependent errors in marine gyrocompasses may amount to 2°–3°, yet they can be difficult to observe.
