On the Damping Force and added Mass of Ships Heaving and Pitching

open access: yesJournal of Zosen Kiokai, 1959
When cylinders of Lewis Form sections heave and pitch on the free surface, their damping force and the added mass were exactly calculated by Ursell's Method. And many figures in this report show the results of the calculation. Then the reporter calculated, applying the results of the above-mentioned calculation and by Strip Method, the damping force ...

A Novel DFIG Damping Control for Power System with High Wind Power Penetration

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Aiming at the fact that large-scale penetration of wind power will to some extent weaken the small signal stability of power systems, in this paper, the dynamic model of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is established firstly, to analyze the ...

Study of the effect of composite constrained layers in vibration damping of plates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2014
To add damping to the system, viscoelastic materials (VEM) are added to structures, in order to enhance damping effects of the VEM, a constraining layer is attached. Due to the addition of the material on the system the fundamental characteristics of the

Discrepancies Between Micro Versus Macroscale Viscoelastic Properties in a Microplastic‐Tissue Composite Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.
