The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Development of a novel powder sheets printing process towards the next generation of additive manufacturing: the role of laser defocusing

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping
To address safety and labour-intensive challenges in laser powder bed fusion, a novel Metal Additive Manufacturing using Powder Sheets (MAPS) method is employed.

Similarity invariant real linear subspaces and similarity preserving additive maps

open access: yes, 2004
Let H be a separable complex infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. All similarity invariant real linear subspaces of B(H), the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators on H, are characterized.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A COMPUTERIZED WILD TURKEY HABITAT EVALUATION SYSTEM

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 1980
An economical, user‐oriented computer system for delineating areas of differing habitat suitability for wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) is presented. A linear additive model is used to add computer maps of seven key habitat criteria.

Functional Asplund Metrics for Pattern Matching, Robust to Variable Lighting Conditions

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2020
In this paper, we propose a complete framework to process images captured under uncontrolled lighting and especially under low lighting. By taking advantage of the Logarithmic Image Processing (LIP) context, we study two novel functional metrics: i) the ...

Predictive analytical modelling and experimental validation of processing maps in additive manufacturing of nitinol alloys

open access: yes, 2021
Nitinol (NiTi) shape memory alloys fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) Additive Manufacturing (AM) have attracted much attention in recent years, as compared with conventional manufacturing processes it allows to produce Nitinol parts with high

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Additivity of elementary maps on gamma rings

open access: yesExtracta Mathematicae, 2019
: Let M and M' be Gamma rings, respectively. We study the additivity of surjective elementary maps of M × M' . We prove that if M contains a non-trivial γ-idempotent satisfying some conditions, then they are additive.

Additive archaeology: The spirit of virtual archaeology reprinted

open access: yes, 2015
Archaeologists in the 1980s were embracing wholeheartedly the rapidly expanding field of computer modelling, hypertext and visualisation as vehicles for dataexploration. Against this backdrop ‘virtual archaeology’ was conceived.
