On quantum additive Gaussian noise channels [PDF]
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a Gaussian quantum channel to have a dilation involving a passive, i.e., number-preserving unitary. We then establish a normal form of such channels: any passively dilatable channel is the result of applying passive unitaries to the input and output of a Gaussian additive channel.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

This paper deals with the asymptotic behavior of solutions to non-autonomous, fractional, stochastic p-Laplacian equations driven by additive white noise and random terms defined on the unbounded domain ℝN.

Reconstruction of noisy system correlation dimension [PDF]
Purpose. Measurement of correlation dimension is considered in a dynamic system with additive random noise. To determine the correlation dimension correctly, it is necessary to eliminate the shift of horizontal coordinate in the graph of the correlation ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Nowadays, there is a clear trend toward increasing the number of remote-sensing images acquired and their average size. This leads to the need to compress the images for storage, dissemination, and transfer over communication lines where lossy ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Some remarks on stabilization by additive noise [PDF]
We review some results on stabilization of solutions to semilinear parabolic PDEs near a change of stability due to additive degenerate noise. Our analysis is based on the rigorous derivation of a stochastic amplitude equation for the dominant mode and on careful estimates on its solution.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Pitch-scaled estimation of simultaneous voiced and turbulence-noise components in speech
Almost all speech contains simultaneous contributions from more than one acoustic source within the speaker's vocal tract. In this paper, we propose a method -- the pitch-scaled harmonic filter (PSHF) -- which aims to separate the voiced and turbulence ...
