l0 Sparsity for Image Denoising with Local and Global Priors

open access: yesAdvances in Multimedia, 2015
We propose a l0 sparsity based approach to remove additive white Gaussian noise from a given image. To achieve this goal, we combine the local prior and global prior together to recover the noise-free values of pixels.

Effect of luminance noise on the object frequencies mediating letter identification

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
Purpose: To determine if the same object frequency information mediates letter contrast threshold in the presence and absence of additive luminance noise (i.e. noise-invariant processing) for letters of different size.

Image and Texture Independent Deep Learning Noise Estimation Using Multiple Frames

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2022
In this study, a novel multiple frame based image and texture independent Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) noise estimator is introduced. Noise estimation is a crucial step for denoising algorithms, especially for ones that are called “non-blind”.

Bit Error Probability of M-QAM under Impulsive Noise and Fading Modeled by Markov Chains [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2018
This article presents new exact expressions, written in terms of elementary transcendental functions, for calculating the bit error probability of M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (M-QAM) scheme considering the wireless communication channel modeled

An optimized initialization for LDPC decoding over GF(q) in impulsive noise environments.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Modern navigation satellite communication has the characteristic of high transmitting rate. To avoid bit errors in data transmission, low density parity check (LDPC) codes are widely recognized as efficient ways for navigation communication ...

ℓp-norms of codewords from capacity- and dispersion-achieveing Gaussian codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
It is demonstrated that codewords of good codes for the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel become more and more isotropically distributed (in the sense of evaluating quadratic forms) and resemble white Gaussian noise (in the sense of ℓp norms ...

Estimation of the drift parameter for the fractional stochastic heat equation via power variation

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2019
We define power variation estimators for the drift parameter of the stochastic heat equation with the fractional Laplacian and an additive Gaussian noise which is white in time and white or correlated in space.

Robust Denoising of Phonocardiogram Signals Using Time-Frequency Analysis and U-Nets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Cardiovascular diseases are the cause of many deaths worldwide every day. Automated cardiac auscultation is a promising diagnosis method; however, one of its main disadvantages is that it is prone to receiving too much noise during sound recording, which

On Estimating the Norm of a Gaussian Vector Under Additive White Gaussian Noise

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2019
This letter considers the task of estimating the norm of an $n$ -dimensional Gaussian random vector given a noisy/perturbed observation of it. In particular, the focus is on the case of additive Gaussian noise perturbation, which is assumed to be independent of the original vector.
