Mechanochromism of Glassy Polymers Enabled by a Loop‐Forming Supramolecular Mechanophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular mechanophore LOOP is covalently introduced into glassy polymers, capable of reporting force‐induced pre‐failure damage and local fracture events in polymer glasses. Under different mechanical deformation modes, including grinding, tensile stretching, and scratching, LOOP probes irreversible events in polymer glasses through a ...

Photo‐Controlled Antibacterial Drug Release From DASA‐Coated Silica Particles for Improved Treatment of Wound Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

Postmortem Digital Image Correlation and Finite Element Modeling Demonstrate Posterior Scleral Deformations during Optic Nerve Adduction Tethering

open access: yesBioengineering
Postmortem human eyes were subjected to optic nerve (ON) traction in adduction and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) to investigate scleral surface deformations.

Investigation of Halogen Substitution Effects in π‐Conjugated Organic Ligands of Chiral Hybrid Perovskites on Their Chiroptical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of novel thiophene‐based ligands with halogen substitutions in enhancing the chiroptical and optoelectronic properties of 2D chiral HOIPs has been investigated. By tailoring ligand design, enhanced CD and CPL properties are achieved, with improved CPL discrimination in photodetectors.

Laterally wedged insoles in knee osteoarthritis: do biomechanical effects decline after one month of wear?

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2009
Objective This study aimed to determine whether the effect of laterally wedged insoles on the adduction moment in knee osteoarthritis (OA) declined after one month of wear, and whether higher reported use of insoles was associated with a reduced effect ...

Furan‐Substituted Phosphine‐Oxide as an Efficient Interfacial Modifier for Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report phosphine‐oxide interlayers for wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells, in which tuned P = O Lewis basicity enables selective passivation of buried NiOx/perovskite interfaces and introduces interfacial dipoles that strengthen the built‐in field.

Impact of Pelvic Pain on Hip Adductors in Pregnant Females during Third Trimester

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Medical Research, 2021
Background: Pregnancy leads to some physiological changes and anatomical changes within maternal and developmental fetus. Posterior pelvic pain usually arises in 20% of the pregnant ladies which may become a cause of adductor tightness during third ...

Diels‐Alder Click Chemistry as a Dynamic‐Covalent Crosslinking Method in Spheroid‐Encapsulating Hydrogels for Cartilage Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This research shows the development of hydrogels with Diels‐Alder click chemistry for engineering cartilage‐like tissue. The hydrogels support cartilage spheroids which could be cultured for at least 28 days. Furthermore, the spheroids showed a tendency to fuse together into a more consistent construct, and produced important components needed for ...

Single Maximal versus Combination Punch Kinematics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of punch type (Jab, Cross, Lead Hook and Reverse Hook) and punch modality (Single maximal, ‘In-synch’ and ‘Out of synch’ combination) on punch speed and delivery time.
