Proximal Versus Distal Continuous Adductor Canal Blocks: Does Varying Perineural Catheter Location Influence Analgesia? A Randomized, Subject-Masked, Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: green, 2018
BACKGROUND:A continuous adductor canal block provides analgesia after surgical procedures of the knee. Recent neuroanatomic descriptions of the thigh and knee led us to speculate that local anesthetic deposited in the distal thigh close to the adductor hiatus would provide superior analgesia compared to a more proximal catheter location.

Comparative efficacy of sciatic obturator and femoral nerve block technique with that of adductor canal block in patients undergoing elective knee surgeries: a prospective, randomized, double-blind study

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology, 2023
Background: Knee surgery necessitates adequate analgesia to reduce postoperative complications and promote early recovery. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of the SOFT block (a single-puncture technique to block the sciatic, obturator, and ...

Can bedside patient-reported numbness predict postoperative ambulation ability for total knee arthroplasty patients with nerve block catheters? [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2016
BackgroundAdductor canal catheters offer advantages over femoral nerve catheters for knee replacement patients because they produce less quadriceps muscle weakness; however, applying adductor canal catheters in bedside clinical practice remains ...

The relative analgesic value of a femoral nerve block versus adductor canal block following total knee arthroplasty: a randomized, controlled, double-blinded study [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2020
Background Multiple comparative studies report that adductor canal blocks provide similar pain relief to femoral nerve blocks following total knee arthroplasty.

A comparative study between continuous epidural analgesia, ultrasound guided continuous femoral nerve block (CFNB), and ultrasound guided continuous adductor canal block (ACB) for post-operative pain management after total knee replacement (TKR)

open access: yesAin Shams Journal of Anesthesiology, 2023
Background Total knee replacement (TKR) is considered a prevailing cause of severe postoperative pain and discomfort among orthopedic surgeries, limiting postoperative ambulation that is important for regaining joint function.

Adductor canal syndrome after lesser trochanter avulsion fracture in a 19-year-old

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2023
A rare cause of limb ischemia in young patients, adductor canal syndrome, can be debilitating and result in functional impairment. Diagnosis and treatment may be delayed due to this vascular disease’s rarity in young people and because the presenting ...
