Discovery of a natural thiamine adenine nucleotide

Nature Chemical Biology, 2007
Several important cofactors are adenine nucleotides with a vitamin as the catalytic moiety. Here, we report the discovery of the first adenine nucleotide containing vitamin B1: adenosine thiamine triphosphate (AThTP, 1), or thiaminylated ATP. We discovered AThTP in Escherichia coli and found that it accumulates specifically in response to carbon ...

Adenine nucleotide degradation in the rabbit heart

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1964
Adenine nucleotide analysis of tissue and perfusates of the isolated rabbit heart were undertaken following hypoxia and uncoupled oxidative phosphorylation. During uncoupled oxidative phosphorylation, nucleotide degradation, primarily that of ATP, was three times as great as that observed during hypoxia.

Regeneration of Adenine Nucleotides in the Heart

1988
The fast adenine nucleotide degradation, which takes place in the ischemic heart, contrasts with the slow regeneration after ischemia.

Blood adenine nucleotides in Down's syndrome

Blut Zeitschrift für die Gesamte Blutforschung, 1971
The levels of ATP, ADP and AMP were estimated in the blood of children with trisomic Down's syndrome. A 19% decrease of the three adenine nucleotides per unit packed-cell volume was found. The significance of these data with respect to the macrocytosis found in patients with Down's syndrome is discussed.

Determination of adenine nucleotides by paper electrophoresis

Journal of Chromatography A, 1963
1. Low voltage paper electrophoresis in 0.05 M citrate buffer of pH 4.8, at a voltage of 200 V, for 312 hours, is a suitable method for determining adenine nucleotides in erythrocytes. 2. Before applying the sample to the paper it is necessary to remove the excess of deproteinisation agent. 3. By means of the method described 42.6 ± 14.5 mg%
