Ultrastructure of the dolphin adenohypophysis

Zeitschrift fr Zellforschung und Mikroskopische Anatomie, 1970
The ultrastructural appearances of the cell types are described in the pars distalis of common (Pacific) dolphins, Delphinus delphis. Tentative functions are assigned to these cells and discussed in relation to some of the known adaptations of these mammals to a marine environment.

Motilin-related immunoreactivity in mammalian adenohypophysis

Neurosurgery, 1986
Motilin, a gut peptide recently demonstrated in the mammalian brain and anterior pituitary, was localized immunocytochemically in rat, guinea pig, and human anterior pituitary glands with two antisera to synthetic porcine motilin. Adjacent sections of normal glands were immunostained for motilin, growth hormone, and prolactin reactivity.

Nongranulated cells in the mouse adenohypophysis

Zeitschrift fr Zellforschung und Mikroskopische Anatomie, 1972
Follicular cells in the mouse adenohypophysis were studied electron microscopically. These elements appear to be very similar to the marginal cells that delineate both sides of the hypophyseal cleft. The mouse differs from most other species in that the follicular cells in the pars distalis and the marginal cells look completely inactive in young ...

Adenohypophysial Necrosis in Respirator-Maintained Patients

Pathobiology, 1974
Fourteen cases of acute adenohypophysial necrosis were found among 76 patients maintained on mechanical respirators, indicating an increased incidence of adenohypophysial necrosis in these patients (18.4%), compared with that of an unselected autopsy material (1.1 %).

Ultrastructure of the dogfish adenohypophysis

Cell and Tissue Research, 1978
Granular hormone-producing cells and agranular cells (stellate cells, including giant and pericavitary cells) were electron microscopically studied in the hypophysis of the small spotted dogfish (Scyllium canicula) up to several months after hatching. Comparisons of results obtained in embryos, newly-hatched fish and adults show an increase of the mean

Spindle cell oncocytoma of the adenohypophysis

Brain Tumor Pathology, 2011
Spindle cell oncocytoma of the adenohypophysis (SCO) is defined as spindle to epithelioid cells with oncocytic appearance presenting in the adenohypophysis. In contrast to pituitary adenomas, the SCO does not show immunoreactivity for neuroendocrine markers and pituitary hormones but co-expressed vimentin, S-100 protein, epithelial membrane antigen ...
