Adenoma Detection Rate Benchmarks: An Updated Analysis
Gastroenterology Nursing, 2023Early-onset colorectal cancer prompted organizations to reduce the recommended screening initiation age from 50 to 45 years. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Quality Assurance in Endoscopy Committee recommends 3 priority quality indicators for colonoscopy services.

Strategies to Increase Adenoma Detection Rates
Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, 2017The adenoma detection rate (ADR), i.e., the proportion of average risk patients with at least one adenoma detected during screening colonoscopy, is inversely associated with the development of interval colorectal cancer. Increasing the ADR is therefore an important proxy for increase in quality and efficacy of (screening) colonoscopy.

P53 Does polyp detection rate accurately reflect adenoma detection rate?
Posters, 2021Introduction Thorough mucosal examination at colonoscopy is essential to detect pathology and ensure high quality procedures. Adenoma detection rate (ADR), defined as the number of colonoscopies where at least one adenoma is detected, is the most important marker of colonic mucosal visualisation and therefore of colonoscopy quality.

High-definition colonoscopy increases adenoma detection rate
Surgical Endoscopy, 2016The adenoma detection rate (ADR) is a quality indicator for colonoscopy. High-definition (HD) imaging has been reported to increase polyp detection rates. The primary objective of this study was to compare polyp detection rate (PDR) and adenoma detection rate (ADR) before and after the implementation of HD colonoscopy.A retrospective chart review was ...

Adenoma Detection Rate in Colonoscopy
Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques, 2016To describe factors that may influence adenoma detection rate (ADR), with an emphasis on the indication for colonoscopy.Consecutive colonoscopies performed by a single endoscopist between January 2008 and December 2014 were reviewed. Indications for colonoscopy were tested for association with ADR after adjusting for age and sex.A total of 2648 ...

Can I Improve My Adenoma Detection Rate?
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, 2015Adenoma detection rate (ADR) has emerged as a key quality metric for colonoscopy. Despite limitations, its major strength is based on its proven correlation with interval colorectal cancer. This has prompted extensive efforts to identify factors and interventions that improve ADR.

Artificial intelligence improves adenoma detection rate during colonoscopy
New Zealand Medical Journal, 2022Artificial intelligence-assisted colonoscopy (AIAC) has gained attention as a tool to assist with polyp detection during colonoscopy. Uncertainty remains as to the clinical benefit, given limited publications using different modules.A single-centre retrospective study was performed at Waitematā Endoscopy, a private endoscopy centre in Auckland, New ...

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2018
The need to increase the adenoma detection rate (ADR) for colorectal cancer screening has ushered in devices that mechanically or optically improve conventional colonoscopy. Recently, new technology devices (NTDs) have become available. We aimed to compare the ADR, polyp detection rate (PDR), and adenoma miss rate (AMR) between NTDs and conventional ...

Polyp detection rate may predict adenoma detection rate: a meta-analysis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, 2018Background Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is defined as the number of colonoscopies with at least one adenoma, expressed as the ratio of the total number of colonoscopies performed. Recently, an application of a conversion factor to estimate the ADR from the polyp detection rate (PDR) was described.

Simplifying Measurement of Adenoma Detection Rates for Colonoscopy
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2020Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is the colonoscopy quality metric with the strongest association to interval or "missed" cancer. Accurate measurement of ADR can be laborious and costly. Our aim was to determine if administrative procedure codes for colonoscopy and text searches of pathology results for adenoma mentions could estimate ADR.We identified US ...
