The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a hamartomatous benign neoplasia of odontogenic origin. It appears to be, mostly prevalent in young female patients, mostly during the second decade of life. The maxillary region is most affected when compared to the mandible.

Unusual Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor

The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is a rare benign neoplasm. It can, however, have locally aggressive behavior. This is a case of an adenomatoid odontogenic tumor of unusual location and behavior in a 15-year-old female patient. A panoramic radiograph revealed a large radiolucent lesion involving the retained tooth 33.

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor

Combined calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor and adenomatoid odontogenic tumor

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is observed most frequently in male patients aged between 10 and 20 years. Occurring usually in the anterior part of the upper jaw, its discovery is often fortuitous during routine radiological examinations, which show a well defined clear zone 1 to 3 cm in diameter.
