Cardiac remodeling and arrhythmia in a mouse model of Depdc5 haploinsufficiency

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Some ion channel genes linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) are also linked to cardiac arrhythmia, leading to the hypothesis that predisposition to cardiac arrhythmias may contribute to the complex disease presentation of DEE and possibly to the mechanism of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.

Mechanism of NaCl transport-stimulated prostaglandin formation in MDCK cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Recently we have found that stimulation of NaCl transport in high-resistance MDCK cells enhances their prostaglandin formation. In the present study, we investigated the mechanisms by which prostaglandin formation could be linked to the ion transport in ...

Red blood cell membrane proteome as a reporter of disease severity, transfusion impact and genetic background in transfusion‐dependent β‐thalassaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Omics technologies have transformed research in haemoglobinopathies, yet the proteome of RBCs remains largely unexplored in transfusion‐dependent thalassaemia (TDT). In this proteomic analysis, Red blood cell (RBC) membranes from 48 adults with TDT were compared with healthy controls.

The epigallocatechin gallate derivative Y6 reverses drug resistance mediated by the ABCB1 transporter both in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2019
Previously, we reported that Y6, a new epigallocatechin gallate derivative, is efficacious in reversing doxorubicin (DOX)--mediated resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma BEL-7404/DOX cells.

Isolation and some properties of oligomycin-sensitive adenosine triphosphatase from beef heart mitochondria and its morphological study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
1. To have a rapid isolation of oligomycin-sensitive ATPase particles (OSA particles), 0.1 mg DOC per mg of protein and 72 g potassium chlo. ride per I were added to mitochondria suspended in a tris.sucrose-histidine solution, which was followed by ...

A Formalin‐Inactivated Vaccine Enhances Survival and Mitigates Horizontal Transmission of Red Sea Bream Iridovirus (RSIV) in Rock Bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus): Insights From Viability Quantitative PCR

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Formalin‐inactivated vaccines are widely employed as a primary preventive strategy against red sea bream iridoviral disease (RSIVD), which poses a substantial economic threat to the aquaculture of rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus). However, conventional quantitative PCR (qPCR) cannot differentiate infectious virions from noninfectious vaccine

Comparative investigation of specific enzyme activities in the organs and tissues of the skin parasite Macrogyrodactylus congolensis (Monogenea: Gyrodactylidae)

open access: yesJournal of Basic and Applied Zoology
Background Macrogyrodactylus congolensis is a pathogenic skin parasite that infects the economically important fish Clarias gariepinus. Little is known about the physiology and histochemistry of M. congolensis.

Histology and histochemistry of the venom apparatus of the black scorpion Androctonus crassicauda (Olivier, 1807) (Scorpiones: Buthidae)

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2008
The venom apparatus of the black scorpion Androctonus crassicauda has been characterized histologically and histochemically in the present study. The results showed that this apparatus consists of paired venom glands, each of which initially presents its

Localized Activation of Bending in Proximal, Medial and Distal Regions of Sea-Urchin Sperm Flagella [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Spermatozoa from the sea urchin, Colobocentrotus atratus, were partially demembranated by extraction with solutions containing Triton X-100 at a concentration which was insufficient to solubilize the membranes completely.
