Adenovirus vectors can infect mouse megakaryocytes – implications for vaccine-induced thrombosis/thrombocytopenia

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Adenoviruses, adenoviral vector vaccines, and gene delivery systems have been implicated in thrombosis/thrombocytopenia syndrome. The underlying cause remains unknown.

A Novel Adenovirus in Chinstrap Penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica) in Antarctica

open access: yesViruses, 2014
Adenoviruses (family Adenoviridae) infect various organ systems and cause diseases in a wide range of host species. In this study, we examined multiple tissues from Chinstrap penguins (Pygoscelis antarctica), collected in Antarctica during 2009 and 2010,

An Epidemic of Respiratory and Ocular Infections Caused by the Reemergence of a Recombinant Human Adenovirus, the Novel Type HAdV‐B114 (P7H3F3)

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Human adenoviruses of species B (HAdV‐B) can cause upper respiratory tract infections and conjunctivitis, but also severe lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI). Although HAdV‐associated LRTI are non‐notifiable in Germany, typing data of our Adenovirus Reference Laboratory indicated an HAdV‐B3 epidemic in 2023, with 67 samples initially ...

Enteroviruses in Water: Epidemiology, Detection and Inactivation

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2025.
In this review, enterovirus presence and persistence in water are described. The epidemiology, detection and monitoring and control of enteroviruses are discussed. ABSTRACT Enteroviruses are small non‐enveloped RNA viruses commonly found in environmental water samples.

Bilateral disciform keratitis of presumed adenoviral etiology

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Adenoviral conjunctivitis may lead to subepithelial corneal infiltrates as a late complication. Herein, we aim to present a 19-year-old healthy female, who developed bilateral disciform keratitis three weeks after suffering adenoviral conjunctivitis. She

Characterisation of the canine faecal virome in healthy dogs and dogs with acute diarrhoea using shotgun metagenomics. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The virome has been increasingly investigated in numerous animal species and in different sites of the body, facilitating the identification and discovery of a variety of viruses.

Evaluation of the capability of the PCV2 genome to encode miRNAs : lack of viral miRNA expression in an experimental infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a ssDNA virus causing PCV2-systemic disease (PCV2-SD), one of the most important diseases in swine. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a new class of small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally ...

Emergent Strain of Human Adenovirus Endemic in Iowa

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2005
We evaluated 76 adenovirus type 7 (Ad7) isolates collected in Iowa from 1992 to 2002 and found that genome type Ad7d2 became increasingly prevalent. By 2002, it had supplanted all other Ad7 genome types.
