Adenovirus serotype 3 and 7 infection with acute respiratory failure in children in Taiwan, 2010-2011. [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Increased incidence of adenovirus infection in children was noticed since September 2010 in Taiwan and severe cases requiring intensive care were noted later.

The transcriptome of the adenovirus infected cell
Alternations of cellular gene expression following an adenovirus type 2 infection of human primary cells were studied by using superior sensitive cDNA sequencing. In total, 3791 cellular genes were identified as differentially expressed more than 2-fold.

Phylogenetic analyses of novel squamate adenovirus sequences in wild-caught Anolis lizards. [PDF]
Adenovirus infection has emerged as a serious threat to the health of captive snakes and lizards (i.e., squamates), but we know relatively little about this virus' range of possible hosts, pathogenicity, modes of transmission, and sources from nature. We

ENTERIC ADENOVIRUS INFECTION IN INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN WITH ACUTE GASTROENTERITIS IN TEHRAN [PDF]
Adenoviruses are one of the most important etiological agents of serious gastroenteritis among infants and young children. Fecal specimens from patients with an acute gastroenteritis were evaluated for the presence of adenovirus (Ad40, 41) from April ...

Adenovirus infections and lung disease
Adenovirus, particularly its E1A protein, has been investigated in the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). High levels of E1A DNA were found in the lungs of COPD patients, where its expression increased with disease severity. In lung epithelial cells, E1A increased intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and interleukin-8 expression,

Adenovirus (ADV) may cause severe complications in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, but disseminated ADV infections in patients who received chemotherapy alone for hematological malignancies are poorly understood due to the rarity of cases.

Latent Adenovirus Infection in COPD [PDF]
We have concentrated on the adenovirus as the source of the heightened inflammatory response of the lungs of patients with COPD. We have concentrated in particular on the responses to agents such as lipopolysaccharides and environmental particulates that contaminate the air we breathe, and we have accumulated evidence that the E1A gene of this virus ...

UNDERESTIMATED INFECTION - ON THE QUESTION OF THE HUMAN ADENOVIRUS PATHOGENICITY FACTORS
Human adenoviruses cause different organ infections of varying severity, from asymptomatic to severe cases with lethal outcome, that are registered everywhere. Detailed and focused study of factors predisposing to a severe course of infection is required.

Adenoviruses are common causes of febrile illness in early childhood. They are most often associated with respiratory tract disease, but can also cause gastrointestinal, ophthalmological, cardiac, neurological and genitourinary manifestations. Viral culture is a sensitive method for detecting most adenoviruses.
