Pediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
