ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Factors Influencing Reinforcement of NR and EPDM Rubbers with Short Aramid Fibers [PDF]
Among short fiber reinforced composites, those with rubbery matrices have gained great importance due to the advantages they have in processing and low cost, coupled with high strength.

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Correlating single-molecule rupture mechanics with cell population adhesion by yeast display
Here, we present a method based on yeast surface display that allows for direct comparison between population-level cell adhesion strength and single-molecule receptor-ligand rupture mechanics. We developed a high-throughput yeast adhesion assay in which

Effects of silane coating on the properties of glass fibre and glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin [PDF]
Single fibre tensile testing and microbond testing have been used to benchmark the influence of silane coupling agents on the performance of glass fibre for reinforced epoxy resin composites.

High-temperature oxidation of nickel-based alloys and estimation of the adhesion strength of resulting oxide layers [PDF]
The kinetics of isothermal oxidation (1100°C) of commercial nickel-based alloys with different content of sulfur (0.22–3.2 wt ppm) is studied. The adhesion strength in a metal/oxide system is estimated as a function of sulfur content and duration of high-

Strength Dependence of Cadherin-Mediated Adhesions [PDF]
Traction forces between adhesive cells play an important role in a number of collective cell processes. Intercellular contacts, in particular cadherin-based intercellular junctions, are the major means of transmitting force within tissues. We investigated the effect of cellular tension on the formation of cadherin-cadherin contacts by spreading cells ...

Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Effective adhesion strength of specifically bound vesicles
A theoretical approach has been undertaken in order to model the thermodynamic equilibrium of a vesicle adhering to a flat substrate. The vesicle is treated in a canonical description with a fixed number of sites.
