Advances in Dental Research, 1988
Development of molecules which will adhere to tooth structure is a high-priority area of dental research. Although enamel and dentin present formidable obstacles to adhesive mechanisms, there is substantial progress in the formulation of agents which are already altering certain procedures, such as the conservative restoration of the erosion lesion ...

Abstract This article reviews adhesive bonding for joints used in aircraft structural assemblies and outlines the comparison of adhesive bonding with other joining methods such as mechanical joining. It describes the characteristics of an adhesive joint and of epoxy and phenolic adhesive systems used for structural applications.

Interphases in the Adhesive Bonding of Fluoropolymers
The Journal of Adhesion, 1994Abstract Strong and durable adhesive bonds may be made between polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and either cyanoacrylate (CA) or epoxy adhesives, if the PTFE surface is modified by the use of a “primer” such as triphenylphosphine (TPP) or diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM).

Adhesion Mediated by Bonds in Series
Biotechnology Progress, 1996Cell adhesion in physiological situations and biotechnological applications is often mediated through serial protein/protein linkages. The adhesion strength of cell/substrate contacts through receptor/ligand bonds in series is explored with a simple mathematical model and quantified with an experimental adhesion assay.

Ultrasonic Evaluation of Adhesive Bonding
The Journal of Adhesion, 1989Abstract The capabilities of existing ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods for the strength-related properties of bonds in structural components is reviewed. The severe limitations of conventional NDE methods in yielding quantitative results are indicated.

Orthodontic adhesives and bond strengthtesting
Seminars in Orthodontics, 1997A bracket bond failure is a frustrating occurrence in orthodontic practice. Because the location of the bond failure may indicate the probable cause, it is important to understand the significance of "bond strength" in a clinical application. Bonding in orthodontics can be studied using controlled clinical models or in vitro using simulated clinical ...

Abstract Adhesive bonding is a widely used industrial joining process in which a polymeric material is used to join two separate pieces (the adherends or substrates). This chapter begins with a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of adhesive bonding, followed by a section providing information on the theory of adhesion.
