The Interplay of Single Ion Anisotropy and Magnetic 3 d‐4 f Interactions in VIII2LnIII2 Butterfly Complexes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
The 3d–4f coupling constants and relative angles between distinct anisotropy axes in butterfly‐shaped VIII2LnIII2 (Ln=Y, Tb−Yb) metal‐organic molecular complexes are determined using combined high‐field EPR spectroscopy and magnetisation studies. The observed chemical trend sheds light on the electronic exchange mechanism and highlights the important ...

Excited State Branching Processes in a Ru(II)‐Based Donor–Acceptor–Donor System

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The photoinduced electron transfer processes in a Ru(II)‐based push–pull–push architecture which combines an inorganic and organic chromophore are elucidated in a joint spectroscopic‐theoretical approach. The applied design concept allows the excited state to be localized away from the metal onto the organic chromophore.

Shortcuts to quantum adiabaticity processes

open access: yes, 2011
We review different ways to accelerate adiabatic processes in cold atom physics and atomic state preparation. Trap expansions or contractions and atomic transport may be accelerated by an invariant-based inverse engineering approach. Berry's inverse engineering method is also applied to produce fast versions of adiabatic passage methods.

Self‐Sensitized Fulgimides with Selective Multiplicity‐Based Three‐State Photoswitching

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Controlling photoinduced reactions by the excited‐state multiplicity remains a significant challenge. We present a systematic approach to unimolecular three‐state photoswitching of fulgimides, utilizing the multimodal role of excited‐state multiplicity.

Thermally Activated On‐Surface Self‐Metalation of Pd‐Phthalocyanines

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Surfaces enable scalable reactions. Here, Pd(001) drives the self‐metalation of H2Pc${\rm H}_2{\rm Pc}$, where the molecule captures a substrate atom to form PdPc. Spectroscopy reveals the reaction pathway, marking the first demonstration of phthalocyanine self‐metalation on Pd.

Three‐dimensional, 2.5‐minute, 7T phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging of the human heart using concentric rings

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 36, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
A 3D, density‐weighted, concentric rings trajectory MRSI sequence is implemented for fast cardiac 31P‐MRS at 7 T. The sequence is evaluated at five acquisition times in the hearts of healthy participants. To mitigate the low signal‐to‐noise ratio of short acquisitions, low‐rank denoising was evaluated as a postacquisition step and found to lower ...
