Mechanistic Study of the Light‐Initiated Generation of Free Diazoalkanes: Towards Photo‐Orthogonal Synthesis

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
A combined computational and experimental study elucidates the mechanism of the light‐induced formation of free diazoalkanes in detail. Starting from deprotonated tosylhydrazone as the light‐harvesting species, it undergoes bond dissociation from a charge transfer state.

Tuning Electrocatalytic Energy Release in Norbornadiene Based Molecular Solar Thermal Systems Through Substituent Effects

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We investigated how push–pull substituents influence the electrochemically driven energy release in norbornadiene‐based MOST systems. Electron‐donating groups proved to be decisive, with p‐methoxyphenyl derivatives achieving up to 99% selectivity. These insights offer valuable design guidelines for future MOST systems. Abstract Molecular solar thermal (

Hydrogen from Biogas: Dynamic Modeling of an Integrated Shift Reactor

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A dynamic, two‐dimensional shift reactor model for the production of hydrogen from biogas is presented. This shift reactor enables the preheating of the biogas feed and, in parallel, reduces fixed‐bed temperatures, resulting in increased hydrogen yields. The model is validated with measurement data from a pilot biogas steam reforming plant.

Development and Validation of a Laboratory‐Scale Methanol Synthesis Mini‐Plant and Digital Twin Simulation

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A methanol mini‐plant and its digital twin were developed to study flexible feedstocks, reactant recycling, and product condensation. Experimental results show good agreement with simulations, allowing systematic investigation of process parameters. Tests with biomass‐derived syngas demonstrated the feasibility of industrial COx sources.
