Colossal Barocaloric Effects at Triple‐Phase Points

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Colossal barocaloric effects were achieved in odd‐numbered normal alkane systems, such as C17H36, C19H40 and C21H44 approaching triple‐phase point by overlapping two separated phase transitions of ordered‐disordered solid phase transition and solid–liquid phase transition under a relative low pressure.

Exploring Low‐Global Warming Potential Refrigerants for Medium‐Charge Systems

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
This study evaluates 15 low‐global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants as alternatives for medium‐charge systems, focusing on environmental impacts, operational performance, and system design integration. Key findings reveal R‐447A's suitability for standard climates and R‐454B's advantages in high ambient conditions, providing actionable guidance for

Evaluating the sensitivity of surrogate optimization target properties characterizing droplet formation, evaporation, and chemical reactions to biodiesel composition reduction

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract Liquid fuels contain a large number of components. However, it is not computationally feasible to implement the detailed composition into numerical solvers in combustion chamber design. Surrogate mixtures are used to facilitate calculations, which can reproduce the fuel characteristics with fewer components providing reasonable accuracy ...

Modeling and Analyzing the Minimum Supercooling Temperature for a Novel I‐Type Thermoelectric Cooling With Various Pulse Currents

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Continuous improvement of transient supercooling effects in thermoelectric cooling is important for solving thermal management problems such as chip hot spots. In this paper, a new I‐type thermoelectric cooling structure is investigated, and its transient cooling performance is deeply investigated by a simulation method with the minimum cold ...

A Comparative Life Cycle Assessment of Residential Heating Systems in Tehran, Iran

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental pollution from different gas heating systems in residential buildings has significant impacts, especially in urban areas due to their high density. This study conducts a comparative life cycle assessment of two commonly used residential heating systems in Tehran: the Central Boiler Room (CBR) and the wall‐hung boiler (WHB). Using
