Triplet state Z/E-isomerization of a p-styrylstilbene: a partly adiabatic process

, 1990
The quantum yields for biacetyl-sensitized Z/E photoisomerization of the isomers of 3,3″,5,5″-tetra-tert-butyl-4'-styrylstilbene, ZZ, ZE, and EE, have been determined.

On fluctuations in an adiabatic process

Physics Letters A, 1971
Abstract Formulas for time-independent fluctuations are obtained which differ from the canonical ensemble expressions if the heat capacity of the system changes in the adiabatic process.

Adiabatic light processing devices

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
The majority of optical processing devices that are employed in optical transmission systems are based on optical fibres or planar optical waveguides that rely on basic physical phenomena such as coupling, interference or Bragg grating reflection for their functionality.

Adiabatic magnetization processes

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1995
Magnetization processes are investigated in connection with the heat transfer to the lattice. The temperature was measured of a heat-insulated sample in the course of virgin curves, hysteresis- and minor loops. Thus it is possible to separate reversible and irreversible contributions. The dissipation of magnetization energy is located at the coercivity

Adiabatic processes in three-level systems

Physical Review A, 1996
In this paper we consider the adiabatic transfer in three-level systems using the counterintuitive pulse sequence, the stimulated Raman process (STIRAP). We consider explicitly the nonadiabatic corrections to the ideal case. The problem simplifies when we use certain pulse types extending to infinity, ramp pulses.

An adiabatic reversible process

American Journal of Physics, 1988
It is argued that an adiabatic reversible process is a subtle thermodynamical concept. It is then shown how such a process may be constructed for the special case of an ideal gas enclosed in a rigid cylinder surrounded by adiabatic walls fitted with a piston that slides without friction.

An adiabatic superconductor 8-bit adder with 24kBT energy dissipation per junction

Applied Physics Letters, 2019
Adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic is an energy-efficient superconductor logic family. In this paper, we conducted the high-frequency operation and energy measurement of an AQFP circuit with more than 1000 Josephson junctions in the ...

Adiabatic processes in frequency conversion

Laser & Photonics Reviews, 2013
Adiabatic evolution, an important dynamical process in a variety of classical and quantum systems providing a robust way of steering a system into a desired state [1-5], was introduced only recently to frequency conversion [6-9]. Adiabatic frequency conversion allowed the achievement of efficient scalable broadband frequency conversion [8, 9] and was ...

Adiabatic Coupler With Design-Intended Splitting Ratio

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2019
We demonstrate adiabatic couplers (ADCs) with design-intended splitting ratios (SRs) for the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. The operational principle, numerical simulations, and experimental results on the designed ADC are presented.
