Adiabatic processes need not correspond to optimal work [PDF]
The minimum work principle states that work done on a thermally isolated equilibrium system is minimal for the adiabatically slow (reversible) realization of a given process. This principle, one of the formulations of the second law, is studied here for finite (possibly large) quantum systems interacting with macroscopic sources of work. It is shown to

This study reveals the potential to manipulate spin‐valley polarization dynamics in MoSe2/WSe2 heterostructures by quantifying different scattering processes following selective photoexcitation. The results show that these heterostructures enable ultrafast valley‐selective charge transfer, with phonon scattering playing a significant role in the ...

Magnetic Engine for the Single-Particle Landau Problem
We study the effect of the degeneracy factor in the energy levels of the well-known Landau problem for a magnetic engine. The scheme of the cycle is composed of two adiabatic processes and two isomagnetic processes, driven by a quasi-static modulation of

Theoretical lessons are key for molecules presenting an inverted singlet‐triplet excited state (e.g. S1 and T1) energy difference. This perspective provides a snapshot of the role played by calculations in last years, not only to anticipate experimental findings but also for driving high‐throughput virtual screenings, as well as the main challenge to ...

The Impact of Donor‐Orientation on the Emission Properties of Chlorinated Trityl Radicals
Chlorinated trityl radicals with electron‐donating groups enable efficient red emission for optoelectronics. Donor orientation and steric constraints regulate vibronic coupling, influencing luminescence. A novel trityl derivative with restricted donor alignment minimizes non‐radiative decay, enhancing quantum yield.

Effect of Temperature, Time, and Material Thickness on the Dehydration Process of Tomato
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of temperature, time, and thickness of tomatoes fruits during adiabatic drying process. Dehydration, a simple and inexpensive process compared to other conservation methods, is widely used in the food industry in ...

Curcuminoid boron difluoride dyes containing triphenylamine units are prepared and their photophysical and electrochemical properties are investigated. These new light‐emitting dyes are used in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) emitting at 800 nm with 1% external quantum efficiency, and show low threshold amplified spontaneous emission in thin ...

Shortcuts to adiabaticity using flow fields
A shortcut to adiabaticity is a recipe for generating adiabatic evolution at an arbitrary pace. Shortcuts have been developed for quantum, classical and (most recently) stochastic dynamics. A shortcut might involve a counterdiabatic (CD) Hamiltonian that
