Abstract Thwaites Glacier has experienced accelerating mass loss, with rates increasing over fivefold since the 1990s. We apply transient calibration to two independent ice‐sheet models (STREAMICE and ISSM) using time‐varying velocity and surface elevation data from 2004 to 2017 to project future mass loss through 2067.

The Role of Large‐Scale Seasonal Cycle Advection in Maintaining the Mean Ocean Salinity Distribution
Abstract Anthropogenic climate change is projected to intensify the global hydrological cycle, posing substantial risks to human societies. However, monitoring these changes through direct observations remains challenging, particularly over the oceans.

Attribute Implication Bases From Galois Connection Structures
ABSTRACT Modeling knowledge systems by determining relationships among key variables have been and currently is a fundamental and nontrivial challenge in real‐world scenarios. Many approaches have been developed to reach this goal, but many of them are heuristic and require of alternative procedures to provide robust and tractable rules.

ABSTRACT The article examines a boundary‐value problem in a bounded domain Ωε$$ {\Omega}_{\varepsilon } $$ consisting of perforated and imperforate regions, with Neumann conditions prescribed at the boundaries of the perforations. Assuming the porous medium has symmetric, periodic structure with a small period ε$$ \varepsilon $$, we analyze the limit ...

Accelerating Conjugate Gradient Solvers for Homogenization Problems With Unitary Neural Operators
ABSTRACT Rapid and reliable solvers for parametric partial differential equations (PDEs) are needed in many scientific and engineering disciplines. For example, there is a growing demand for composites and architected materials with heterogeneous microstructures.

Emergent supersymmetry at large N
We search for infrared fixed points of Gross-Neveu Yukawa models with matrix degrees of freedom in d = 4 − ε. We consider three models — a model with SU(N) symmetry in which the scalar and fermionic fields both transform in the adjoint representation, a ...

PearSAN: A Machine Learning Method for Inverse Design Using Pearson Correlated Surrogate Annealing
A machine learning–assisted inverse design framework is introduced to overcome the curse of dimensionality in complex nanophotonic design problems. By leveraging Pearson‐correlated surrogate annealing (PearSAN) method within a generative latent space, rapid convergence toward optimal thermophotovoltaic metasurface designs is achieved, enabling precise ...

This work demonstrates the application of neural ordinary differential equations (neural ODEs) for learning hydrocracking reaction kinetics directly from data, achieving robust predictions under noise and sparsity while preserving mechanistic interpretability through gradient‐based analysis of temperature‐ and concentration‐dependent reaction rates ...

Equivariant toric geometry and Euler–Maclaurin formulae
Abstract We first investigate torus‐equivariant motivic characteristic classes of toric varieties, and then apply them via the equivariant Riemann–Roch formalism to prove very general Euler–Maclaurin‐type formulae for full‐dimensional simple lattice polytopes.

Ghost effect from Boltzmann theory
Abstract Taking place naturally in a gas subject to a given wall temperature distribution, the “ghost effect” exhibits a rare kinetic effect beyond the prediction of classical fluid theory and Fourier law in such a classical problem in physics. As the Knudsen number ε$\varepsilon$ goes to zero, the finite variation of temperature in the bulk is ...
