CONTAGION AND THE SPEED OF ADJUSTMENT IN SMALL WORLDS

International Game Theory Review, 2007
We model a simple dynamic process in which myopic agents are matched amongst each other to play a coordination game. The network of player interaction is varied between a regular lattice and a random network allowing us to model contagion in small world networks.

Stability and Speed of Adjustment under Retiming of Lags

Econometrica, 1980
The subject is retiming of lags in a system of linear difference equations. The issues are (i) the effect of lag retiming on stability and (ii) the effect of lag retiming on speed of adjustment. Regarding (i), a theorem due to Bear [1] is sharpened; and new conditions for stability to survive under a retiming of lags are obtained.

On the interharmonic components generated by adjustable speed drives

10th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.02EX630), 2004
The interharmonic generation process is addressed with reference to high power adjustable speed drives based on double stage conversion systems using line commutated or pulse width modulated inverters. Reference is made to ideal supply conditions. Formulas to forecast the interharmonic frequencies due to the interaction between the rectifier and the ...

A wide-range adjustable-speed drive

Electrical Engineering, 1949
This paper describes the theory and characteristics of a drive which provides a wide range of adjustable speeds. The ratio of the maximum to minimum useful speeds attainable is approximately 20-to-1. The system provides high starting-torque, relatively high efficiencies and rapid deceleration through regenerative braking.

Industry Structure and the Speed of Price Adjustment

The Journal of Industrial Economics, 1983
RECENT work has suggested that there is an association between the degree of concentration in an industry and the speed at which prices adjust to changes in prime costs (Cagan [8], Domberger [12, 13], Scherer [21], p. 356 and the references cited therein).

The Speed of Adjustment

2001
Four decades have passed since our celebrant, then a young student at Johns Hopkins, attended my class in Public Finance. He was told that the fiscal system must address three concerns—the provision of public goods, equity in distribution and macro stability.

Dynamic speed adjustment of a machine tool

2010 5th IEEE International Conference Intelligent Systems, 2010
We present analytical results related to a tool management model for a flexible machine equipped with a tool magazine, variable cutting speed, and sensors to monitor tool wear, when tool life due to flank wear is stochastic. Under some regularity conditions, we derive the special structure of decision rules for adjusting the cutting speed as a function

Reliability of Adjustable Speed Drives

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2010
The reliability of ASDs has improved very much. The resulting MTBF from realistic estimation (which is 44 years) shows an MTBF for standard LV drives that will be acceptable for most applications in the chemical industry where programs such as "Improve Equipment Reliability," "Equipment Justification and Minimization," and "Risk-Based Engineering" are ...

Optimum International Reserves and the Speed of Adjustment

Journal of Political Economy, 1970
In the current debate on international monetary reform the protagonists can be grouped into two main camps. On the one hand, the AngloAmericans maintain that what is most urgently needed is a major addition to the stock of international reserves. They fear that without a larger supply of international means of payment countries will be forced to adopt ...

Adjustable-Speed Drives

1994
Adjustable-speed drives have been a stalwart contributor to the success of many of the world’s industrial processes for years. Textile fiber manufacturing, steel mill rolling, automobile tire cord processing, and a myriad of other processes utilize adjustable-speed electric drives in the manufacturing process. High energy costs are now causing interest
