Analysis Winds Data from ASCAT and SAR Backscatter using Statistical and Modeling Methods during Tropical Cyclone Anggrek (2024) in Indian Ocean [PDF]
Tropical cyclones are extreme weather phenomena characterized by strong winds that can cause damage to coastal areas, so accurate measurement of wind speed during tropical cyclones is very important. This study aims to measure the intensity of wind speed

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Speed-Adaptive PI Collection and PP Adjustment in Indoor VLC Network
In this paper, a novel adjustment algorithm of the position-predicted period (PP) in an indoor visible light communication (VLC) network is proposed. The algorithm is adaptive to the movement speed.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Economics of capital adjustment in the US commercial banks: empirical analysis
Using GMM framework on the data of the US commercial banks spanning over 2002 to 2018, this study shows that banks adjust their regulatory capital ratios faster than traditional capital ratios.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

CEO overconfidence and the speed of adjustment of cash holdings
We examine the link between CEO overconfidence and speed of adjustment (SOA) of cash holdings for listed US firms. We find a negative effect of overconfident CEOs on the SOA. Further, CEO overconfidence increases the asymmetry in the SOA between firms with excess cash and those with a cash deficit: The SOA is faster (slower) when there is excess cash ...
