Transport Matters: The Critical Role of the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) in Accelerating Electrochemical Nitrate to Ammonia Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A porous cobalt‐based metal‐oxide foam catalyst is synthesized using the DHBT technique, followed by calcination. It demonstrates exceptional activity for e‐NO3RR, reaching near‐unity ammonia selectivity at low overpotentials. Dynamic surface area changes due to NO3‐ depletion are mitigated by “self‐convection” during hydrogen evolution.

Cell Contractile Force‐Mediated Morphogenetic Tissue Engineering via 4D Printed Degradable Hydrogel Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Through the actuation of cell contractile forces, geometrically complex structures are formed via a bioprinted, rapidly degrading cell‐laden hydrogel system, resulting in cell‐only condensation within a few days of culture. This system supports stem cell differentiation down different lineages and new tissue formation, such as chondrogenesis and ...

The Role of Operating Temperature on Pore‐Scale Gas Transport in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study clarifies the critical relationship between operating temperature and two‐phase flow behavior in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzers by investigating pore‐scale gas bubble transport in the anode porous transport layer. Higher temperatures (80 °C vs 40 °C) result in a lower total bubble volume fraction and smaller bubble ...
