Constructions of p-adic L-functions and admissible measures for Hermitian modular forms.

open access: yes, 2019
For a prime p and a positive integer n, the standard zeta function LF (s) is consid- ered, attached to an Hermitian modular form F = â A(H)qH on the Hermitian upper half H plane Hm of degree n, where H runs through semi-integral positive definite ...

Heeke-type double sums, Appell Lerch sums, and mock theta functions, I

open access: yes, 2014
By introducing a dual notion between partial theta functions and Appell–Lerch sums, we find and prove a formula which expresses Hecke-type double sums in terms of Appell–Lerch sums. Not only does our formula prove classical Hecke-type sum identities such

Partial identification with categorical data and nonignorable missing outcomes

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Nonignorable missing outcomes are common in real‐world datasets and often require strong parametric assumptions to achieve identification. These assumptions can be implausible or untestable, and so we may wish to forgo them in favour of partially identified models that narrow the set of a priori possible values to an identification region.

Zeros of linear combinations of Dirichlet $L$-functions on the critical line

open access: yes, 2023
Let $F$ be a linear combination of $N\geq 1$ Dirichlet $L$-functions attached to even (or odd) primitive characters with the same modulus. Selberg proved that a positive proportion of non-trivial zeros of $F$ lie on the critical line. Our work here is to

The Benjamin–Ono Equation in the Zero‐Dispersion Limit for Rational Initial Data: Generation of Dispersive Shock Waves

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The leading‐order asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Cauchy initial‐value problem for the Benjamin–Ono equation in L2(R)$L^2(\mathbb {R})$ is obtained explicitly for generic rational initial data u0$u_0$. An explicit asymptotic wave profile uZD(t,x;ε)$u^\mathrm{ZD}(t,x;\epsilon)$ is given, in terms of the branches of the multivalued ...

Some Admissible Estimators in Extreme Value Densities

open access: yes, 1975
Let X be a random variable having the extreme value density of the form(1)where r is assumed to be a positive Lebesgue measurable function of x and the function q is defined byfor all θ in Ω = (0, ∞). It is further assumed that q(θ) approaches zero as θ →

Modelling Sustainability Performance in Manufacturing Companies

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nowadays, organisations need to operate with economic, social and environmental goals in mind. Indices objectively quantify such goals; hence, an organisation can develop and compare policies based on future index values. We propose a system dynamics‐based model of a manufacturing company that frames its operations in terms of a set of easily ...

Upper bound limit analysis of coral reef limestone cavern roof stability incorporating a tension‐shear failure mechanism with tensile‐strength cut‐off

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
For the roof of coral reef limestone caverns, a novel tension‐shear composite failure mechanism was developed. The most critical tensile crack model was identified using a hybrid optimization algorithm, and the stability of the cavern roof was analyzed accordingly.

Fractional Treatment Rules for Social Diversification of Indivisible Private Risks [PDF]

open access: yes
Should a social planner treat observationally identical persons identically? This paper shows that uniform treatment is not necessarily desirable when a planner has only partial knowledge of treatment response.
