Among older adults with insulin‐treated diabetes during their first week in a nursing home, 60% have hyperglycemia ≥ 250 mg/dL and nearly 20% have hypoglycemia < 70 mg/dL, while less than one‐third have no dysglycemia, as measured by routine fingerstick glucose monitoring. Importantly, over two‐thirds of those with hypoglycemia also have hyperglycemia.
