Microbiota‐gut‐brain axis multi‐organ chip construction and applications in drug evaluation

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2025.
Microbiota‐gut‐brain axis multiorgan chip and its applications in drug evaluation. The chip includes essential biological components such as gut microbiota, gut barrier, blood‐brain barrier (BBB), and brain. This integrated platform incorporates neural (blue), endocrine (yellow), immune (pink), and metabolic (green) pathways to investigate the impact ...

Parkinson's Disease and Cancer: Mechanistic Insights and Therapeutic Opportunities From Cancer Neuroscience

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
Parkinson's disease (PD) and glioma are neurological disorders with distinct and even opposing mechanisms: α‐synuclein deposition and neuronal loss in PD versus glial cell malignancy in glioma. Despite these differences, their contrasting pathologies highlight multiple therapeutic targets.

Exploration of the Value of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and OCT Angiography in Differentiating Between Major Depressive Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder

open access: yesInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research, Volume 34, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) are psychiatric conditions with overlapping clinical features but distinct pathologies. This study aims to explore the microvascular changes in superficial retinal capillary plexus (SRCP) in patients between MDD and BPD using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Adrenal Insufficiency‐Induced Delirium Following Gastrectomy in a Patient With Gastric Cancer Treated With Nivolumab, Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors: A Case Report

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 45, Issue 4, December 2025.
Postoperative hyperactive delirium unmasked secondary adrenal insufficiency in a patient with prior PD‐1 inhibitor exposure. Surgical stress revealed ICI‐related hypophysitis (↓ACTH → ↓cortisol). Hypotension and hypoglycemia prompted endocrine testing (AM cortisol 1.01 μg/dL; ACTH 1.5 pg/mL).

Longitudinal trajectories of major depressive disorder provide further clinical perspectives for precision psychiatry

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common and debilitating disorder. MDD was considered to be a relatively benign disorder compared to other major psychiatric disorders. However, longitudinal research revealed heterogeneous and frequently chronic course.

Network‐Pluralistic Psychiatry in Epilepsy: A theoretical framework and research agenda for personalized, mechanistic, and integrated care

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Psychiatric comorbidities in epilepsy are prevalent, disabling, and persistently undertreated due to conceptual and operational fragmentation between neurology and psychiatry. This paper proposes Network‐Pluralistic Psychiatry in Epilepsy (NPPE), a hypothesis‐generating, disease‐contextualized framework that integrates four mechanistic layers:
