Development and function of the fetal adrenal

open access: yesReviews in Endocrine & Metabolic Disorders, 2022
The adrenal cortex undergoes multiple structural and functional rearrangements to satisfy the systemic needs for steroids during fetal life, postnatal development, and adulthood.

Migrasomes in Ischemic Stroke: Molecular Landscape and Pathophysiological Impact

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics profiling of stroke patients exposes systemic molecular fingerprints of immune activation, oxidative stress and metabolic collapse. Complement and coagulation cascade, and cholesterol metabolism emerge as shared functional hallmarks of plasma migrasomes in stroke patients and migrasomes isolated from experimental stroke mice.

CONGENITAL ADRENAL CORTEX HYPERPLASIA IN A NEWBORN (CLINICAL CASE)

open access: yesНеонатологія, хірургія та перинатальна медицина, 2019
Congenital adrenal cortex hyperplasia combines a group of monogenic diseases with an autosomal recessive fashion based on defects in enzymes or transport proteins involved in adrenal steroidogenesis.

COMPENSATORY HYPERTROPHY OF THE ADRENAL CORTEX

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1926
1. Removal of one adrenal in the albino rat is followed by hypertrophy of the remaining gland. In the case of female rats 90 days of age this compensatory hypertrophy amounted to 61 per cent. 2.

A contribution to the anatomy of two rare cetacean species: The hourglass dolphin (Cephalorhynchus cruciger) and the spectacled porpoise (Phocoena dioptrica)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The anatomical description of the hourglass dolphin (Cephalorhynchus cruciger) and the spectacled porpoise (Phocoena dioptrica) remains largely unexplored, due to limited specimen availability and preservation challenges. This study employed digital imaging techniques, conventional histology, and computed tomography to provide visualization of

Sex differences in adrenal cortex beta-catenin immunolocalisation of the Saharan gerbil, Libyan jird (Meriones libycus, Lichtenstein, 1823)

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2023
BACKGROUND: The adrenal cortex provides adequate steroidogenic responses to environmental changes. However, in desert rodents, the adrenocortical activity varies according to several factors especially sex, age, and seasonal variations.

Does salinity make a difference—Kidney anatomy of Saimaa (Pusa saimensis) and Baltic ringed seals (Pusa hispida botnica)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract As habitat salinity markedly differs between the endangered, freshwater‐dwelling Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa saimensis Nordquist, 1899) and the brackish water‐inhabiting Baltic ringed seal (Pusa hispida botnica Gmelin, 1788), we investigated whether this difference has resulted in morphological changes to their kidneys.

Morpho-functional state of human fetuses’ adrenal cortex during influence of maternal infection

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2018
Aim of study. To reveal influence of maternal infection on morpho-functional state of fetuses’ adrenal cortex. Methods. The material was obtained during sectional studies, which were conducted on the basis of the "Kharkiv Regional Clinical Perinatal ...

Isolation of a multipotent mesenchymal stem cell-like population from human adrenal cortex

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2018
Background: The highly plastic nature of adrenal cortex suggests the presence of adrenocortical stem cells (ACSC), but the exact in vivo identity of ACSC remains elusive.

Expert Perspective: Diagnosis and Treatment of Castleman Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Castleman disease (CD) is a major diagnostic challenge for rheumatologists. Unicentric CD (UCD) involves one enlarged lymph node region, whereas multicentric CD (MCD) involves multiple enlarged lymph node regions. Both UCD and MCD may exhibit a wide range of symptoms that overlap with other immune‐mediated conditions.
