In vivo Mononuclear Phagocyte Migration: Paradoxical Effect of Adrenalectomy
The effect of adrenalectomy on neutrophil and monocyte migration into rat peritoneal and pleural cavities was investigated. Carrageenin- or thioglycollate-induced neutrophil emigration into both cavities was enhanced by adrenalectomy.

ABSTRACT Objective Primary aldosteronism (PA), the most common endocrine cause of hypertension, is evaluated using adrenal vein sampling (AVS), to determine if aldosterone excess is bilateral or unilateral. AVS is invasive and technically challenging; it would ideally be used only in those with unilateral PA who are candidates for surgical cure.

Participation of the hypophyseal-adrenal cortex system in thrombin clearance during immobilization stress [PDF]
Thrombin marked with I-131 resulted in a considerable increase of the thrombined clearance rate in healthy male rats during stress caused by an immobilization lasting 30 minutes, and in an increase of thrombin clearance occurred by a combination of ...

Repeating adrenal vein sampling when neither aldosterone/cortisol ratio exceeds peripheral yields a high incidence of aldosterone-producing adenoma [PDF]
Objectives:In primary aldosteronism, adrenal vein sampling (AVS) suggests unilateral aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) when the aldosterone/cortisol (A/F) ratio is less than or equal to peripheral on one side and at least two times peripheral on the ...

ABSTRACT Introduction Saliva hormone measurement is increasingly being applied in everyday clinical practice. In relation to salivary cortisone measurement, there is a particular advantage, with minimal chance of cross‐reaction with prescribed glucocorticoids and greater convenience.

In an era when minimally invasive adrenalectomy is the gold standard treatment for majority of patients presenting with adrenal tumours, open adrenalectomy has become an operation that should be centralised in regional referral centers. Its main indication is represented by patients with large (>8 cm) phaeochromocytomas and patients with cortical ...

ABSTRACT Objective Managing gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with phaeochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL) is challenging due to the risk of catecholaminergic crisis with many commonly prescribed medications, especially in functional tumours.

The effects of adrenalectomy and corticsteroid injection on the fibrinolytic activity of complex heparin compounds in the blood during immobilization [PDF]
Total non-enzymatic fibrinolytic activity in the blood of rats increased three times in response to stress caused by 30 minute immobilization, and the activity of epinephrine-heparin complex increased nine times. In adrenalectomized animals, which showed
