Status of ADRIANO R&D in T1015 Collaboration

open access: yes, 2015
The physics program for future High Energy and High Intensity experiments requires an energy resolution of the calorimetric component of detectors at limits of traditional techniques and an excellent particle identification. The novel ADRIANO technology (

Genotype‐by‐environment interaction informs selection for seed physiological quality and stink bug tolerance in soybean under pest management contrasts

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Genotype‐by‐environment interaction shaped soybean seed stability under contrasting insecticide regimes. Seed longevity emerged as a stable, management‐relevant trait under pest pressure. High‐pressure, no‐insecticide conditions improved discrimination of tolerant genotypes for integrated pest management deployment.

TGF-β1-mediated downregulation of L1CAM in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma drives upregulation of collagen 17A1 and MMP2, facilitating tumor invasiveness and metastasis

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
The highly fibrotic microenvironment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) poses significant challenges for effective treatment, particularly in drug delivery and tumor progression.

Cefdinir binding to a class A β‐lactamase revealed by serial cryo‐crystallography

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, EarlyView.
Serial cryo‐crystallography reveals the structure of the extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase CTX‐M‐14 in complex with the third‐generation cephalosporin antibiotic cefdinir. One of the most common resistance mechanisms against antibiotics employed by Gram‐negative bacteria involves the production of β‐lactamases, resulting in rapid hydrolysis of the ...

Different Process, Same Outcome? The Problems of Within‐Party Sortition

open access: yesThe Political Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract A recent article in Political Quarterly argues for a ‘sortition of candidature’. We show that because political parties are not themselves socially representative, such a scheme would not result in a socially representative Parliament. Drawing on data from the Party Members Project, we show that while some demographic groups would be better ...

Boundary State for Magnetized D9 Branes and One-Loop Calculation

open access: yes, 2006
We construct the boundary state describing magnetized D9 branes in R^{3,1} x T^6 and we use it to compute the annulus and Moebius amplitudes. We derive from them, by using open/closed string duality, the number of Landau levels on the torus T^d.Comment ...

Different Process, Different Outcomes: A Response to Cowley, Webb and Bale

open access: yesThe Political Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper responds to Cowley, Webb and Bale's critique of our paper on sortition, parties and political careers. Cowley et al. argue that within‐party sortition will not increase parliamentary descriptive representation (PDR). We largely agree with that claim, which was not the focus of our original paper.

Post‐curing effects on mechanical properties staining resistance of a 3D‐printed resin versus a direct composite for definitive restorations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This study evaluated the mechanical performance and staining resistance of a three‐dimensional (3D)‐printed resin (VarseoSmile Crown Plus) subjected to different post‐curing times (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 min), compared with a conventional nanofilled resin composite (Filtek Z350XT).
