Checklist of free-living nematode species in the transitional environment of Lake Varano (Southern Italy) [PDF]

open access: yesArxius de Miscel-lània Zoològica, 2015
This study documents for the first time the taxonomic composition of the nematode community and the number of free–living nematode species in Lake Varano, Southern Adriatic Sea, Italy. The nematode community was mainly composed of species typical of fine

Voices From the Coast: Stakeholder Participation and Perception on Creating a Marine Protected Area

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores participatory processes in the context of marine conservation, with a specific focus on recent initiatives undertaken by the Apulia region in Italy to establish a new Marine Protected Area (MPA). Employing a qualitative cross‐sectional methodology, the study investigates how local communities perceive and engage with the ...

The freshwater discharge into the Adriatic Sea revisited

open access: yesFrontiers in Climate
The present study reconstructs the river discharge climatology and its respective historical series for all rivers of the Adriatic Sea with averaged climatological daily river discharge above 1 m3s−1, to reach a better representation of the Adriatic ...

Linear and non-linear sea-level variations in the Adriatic Sea from tide gauge records (1872-2012)

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2015
We have analyzed tide gauge data from the Adriatic Sea in order to assess the secular sea-level trend, its acceleration and the existence of possible cyclic variation. Analyzing the sea-level stack of all Adriatic tide gauges, we have obtained a trend of

Linking species distribution models with population abundance to support adaptive fisheries management

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Understanding how environmental variability structures essential fish habitat (EFH) is central to managing keystone populations in dynamic marine ecosystems. Using nearly three decades of standardized survey data (1994–2021) from the Adriatic Sea, we present the first basin‐scale, process‐based framework linking estimated habitat suitability and ...

The Addition of Concurrent Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors for Chemoradiotherapy With Consolidative Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors in Unresectable Cancers: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Currently, there are at least 30 ongoing clinical trials in the enrollment phase to evaluate adding concurrent ICIs to the PACIFIC regimen for a variety of solid tumors. Considering the lack of head‐to‐head comparative studies, this meta‐analysis aims to investigate the differences in efficacy between adding and not adding concurrent ICIs to CRT ...

The currents and circulation of the Adriatic Sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Reviews the present state of knowledge of the Adriatic general circulation and its higher-frequency current variability. Critical gaps in the present knowledge are identified, and ways of approaching them are suggested.

Climatology and Trends of Sub‐Daily Precipitation Extremes in Croatia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Sub‐daily extreme precipitation indices reveal pronounced spatial variability, with the highest intensities and frequencies across the Adriatic region and the highlands. Seasonal and diurnal patterns highlight distinct regional behaviour, including summer maxima over the continental interior and nocturnal or early‐morning peaks along the Adriatic coast.

Decoupling glacier retreat and surface stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (Slovenia), insights from in situ cosmogenic 36Cl exposure and depth‐profile ages

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaciokarst landscapes pose distinctive challenges for cosmogenic dating because meltwater and runoff can be rapidly rerouted into ponors and conduit networks, weakening glacier–river coupling and promoting local sediment storage. We reconstruct glacier retreat and postglacial stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (SW Slovenia) using in situ ...

The Issue of Maritime Connectivity and Peripherality in the Adriatic

open access: yesМеждународная аналитика
The Adriatic Sea, as part of the Mediterranean Sea, plays an important role in the regional and international maritime connected system. Historically, it served as an important trade route, connecting Europe to the East, thanks to the power of the ...
