, 2023 In ancient Rome, the lack of children led to decline of the family in the spiritual and material sense. In an effort to reduce such consequences to the smallest possible extent, the Romans very early created the institution of adrogation (adrogatio), which represented the adoption of a person sui iuris who thus comes under paternal power of the adopter.
