Association between infection burden and adult height
Economics & Human Biology, 2017Although highly heritable, adult height is also associated with numerous environmental factors, including exposure to infection. Particularly in developing regions of the world, infection burden appears to slow growth during childhood. Using a large database representative of the US population, we examined associations between adult height and leg ...

Spontaneous Adult Height in Idiopathic Short Stature
Hormone Research, 1995Two hundred and thirty-six patients with idiopathic short stature (ISS) (184 m, 52 f) who presented at a mean age of 12.2 (range 2.8-17.5) years, a mean height of -2.16 standard deviation score (SDS), a mean target height (THT) of -0.27 SDS (m = f), were reinvestigated at a mean age of 20.5 (range 18-24) years. 182(142 m, 37 f) (67%) had reached normal

Reduction of adult height in tall girls
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1979Assessment of the results of treatment of tall girls with estrogens by comparing actual mature height with predicted mature height is unreliable, unless the accuracy of prediction has been tested in untreated tall girls. We report such an investigation in 14 tall girls who were treated with estrogens and in 14 untreated tall girls.

DETERMINANTS OF VARIATION IN ADULT BODY HEIGHT
Journal of Biosocial Science, 2003Final body height is achieved as the result of a combination of genetic and environmental factors. The aim of this article is to review past studies on body height that have followed different scientific traditions. In modern Western societies, about 20% of variation in body height is due to environmental variation.
