Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

A novel catalyst based on zero-valent iron nanoparticles for assisting electro-fenton process applied to a toxic wastewater

open access: yesResults in Engineering
A catalyst based on zero-valent iron nanoparticles (nZVI) supported by zeolite Y (zeolite Y-nZVI) was synthesized to improve the performance of the heterogeneous electro-Fenton-like process for treating a toxic pesticide wastewater with pH of 6.

Treatment of Auto Wash Wastewater with Classical Fenton Process: Effect of Pre-Settling on COD Removal Kinetics

open access: yesDoğal Afetler ve Çevre Dergisi, 2021
In parallel with the population, the number of vehicles in traffic is increasing day by day. Therefore, the volume of wastewater generated by vehicle cleaning reaches substantial proportions. While most of these wastewaters are not classified as domestic

Silicon-slurry/aluminide coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A low cost coating protects metallic base system substrates from high temperatures, high gas velocity ovidation, thermal fatigue and hot corrosion and is particularly useful fo protecting vanes and blades in aircraft and land based gas turbine engines. A

Carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon electrode for electrochemical oxidation of alkylphenol ethoxylate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Electrochemical oxidation of an emerging pollutant, 2-(4-methylphenoxy)ethanol (MPET), from water has been studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV). Multiwall carbon nanotubes glassy carbon electrodes (MWCNT-GCE) were used as working electrode due to their ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.
