Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Assessment of the UV/Chlorine process as an advanced oxidation process
Water Research, 2011Several organic compounds were used as radical scavengers/reagents to investigate the possibility of the UV/chlorine process being used as an advanced oxidation process (AOP) in the treatment of drinking water and wastewater. The UV/H(2)O(2) process was selected as a reference, so that the results from the UV/chlorine process could be compared with ...

Oxidation of Pharmaceuticals during Ozonation and Advanced Oxidation Processes
Environmental Science & Technology, 2003This study investigates the oxidation of pharmaceuticals during conventional ozonation and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) applied in drinking water treatment. In a first step, second-order rate constants for the reactions of selected pharmaceuticals with ozone (k(O3)) and OH radicals (k(OH)) were determined in bench-scale experiments (in brackets ...

Degradation of formaldehyde by advanced oxidation processes
Journal of Environmental Management, 2012The degradation of formaldehyde in an aqueous solution (400 mg L(-1)) was studied using photolysis, peroxidation and advanced oxidation processes (UV/H(2)O(2), Fenton and photo-Fenton). Photolysis was the only process tested that did not reduce formaldehyde concentration; however, only advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) significantly decreased ...

An advanced oxidation process for DBP control
Journal AWWA, 1995Potentially of use to small systems for disinfection by‐products control, a relatively simple advanced oxidation process was evaluated at bench scale.Small water utilities often have difficulty operating complicated treatment processes. The advanced oxidation process investigated here is simple, involving only a pump to add hydrogen peroxide and a ...
