C.I. Reactive Black 5 degradation by advanced electrochemical oxidation process, AEOP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In the last decades, an increasing number of procedures to remove pollutants from wastewater have been reported. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are one of those technologies used for this purpose, namely, for textile wastewater treatment.

Electrochemical advanced oxidation process using DiaChem®electrodes

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2004
The electrochemical advanced oxidation process (EAOP) using boron doped diamond (DiaChem®, registered trademark of Condias GmbH) has been studied for wastewater treatment and drinking water disinfection. DiaChem® electrodes consist of preferentially metallic base materials coated with a conductive polycrystalline diamond film by hot-filament chemical ...

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Advanced oxidation process sanitization of eggshell surfaces

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2016
The microbial quality of eggs entering the hatchery represents an important critical control point for biosecurity and pathogen reduction programs in integrated poultry production. The development of safe and effective interventions to reduce microbial contamination on the surface of eggs will be important to improve the overall productivity and ...

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Produced water treatment by advanced oxidation processes

open access: yesScience of The Total Environment, 2019
Different Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) such as photocatalysis, Fenton-based processes and ozonation were studied to include one of these technologies within an integrated solution for produced water (PW) polishing. Synthetic PW was prepared adding toluene, xylene, naphthalene, phenol, acetic and malonic acids to a seawater matrix.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

SOLAR PHOTOCATALYTIC TREATMENT OF SIMAZINE FROM SYNTHETIC WASTEWATER

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2017
In this research, a solar pilot plant designed for solar photocatalytic applications has been used to investigate the feasibility of simazine degradation in an aqueous solution. Simazine degradation was investigated in both homogeneous and heterogeneous

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes

open access: yes, 2014
In recent years, new Advanced Oxidation Processes based on the electrochemical technology, the so-called Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAOPs), have been developed for the prevention and remediation of environmental pollution, especially focusing on water streams.
