Strategies to control Cirsium arvense under organic farming conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Three strategies for controlling Cirsium arvense including (1) repeated stubble tillage with subsequent forage crop cultivation, (2) repeated mowing of a grass-clover ley, and (3) forage crop cultivation following a grass-clover ley ploughed in May/June (

Influence of Metal Species and Content of Fe‐Ni‐Poly(heptazine imides) on their Properties as Electrocatalysts for Zinc‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Iron/nickel‐modified poly(heptazine imides) are efficient, low‐cost bifunctional electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions in aqueous zinc–air batteries. Iron enhances oxygen reduction, while nickel single‐atoms deliver oxygen evolution activity comparable to RuO2.

Development of Adventitious Roots in Tobacco

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1959
Development of adventitious roots in tobacco grown on pots and fields was investigated as follows: 1) Adventitious roots of tobacco appeared on stem about 20 days after soil dressing and spread conspicuously during the stage from budding to flowering. 2) Comparisons among 3 varieties differing in budding time revealed that development of adventitious ...

Impact of Extrusion and Direct Calendering on Dry‐Coated Cathodes for Sulfidic All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a parameter optimization for a scalable dry coating process of sulfidic ASSB cathodes (82 wt% CAM, 0.5 wt% PTFE binder) in dry room atmosphere. High‐shear extruder mixing and calendering are used to form a cathode film based on PTFE fibrillation.

Restricting Copper Reconstruction with Ultrathin Polydopamine for Selective and Stable Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Reaction to C2 Products

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
An ultrathin polydopamine coating on copper microcubes mitigates the surface reconstruction during EC‐CO2RR. Copper nanocubes form on the surface of the microcubes in the early stages of the EC‐CO2RR, contributing to suppressed surface reconstruction and sustained Faradaic efficiency for C2 products.

Integrated Experimental and Theoretical Insights into Defect‐Induced Functionalities of Cobalt Doped NiO for Multifunctional Solar‐Driven Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Rational defect engineering in Co‐doped NiO nanostructures, synthesized via a sustainable green route, enables precise bandgap modulation and defect‐state tailoring. Combined experimental–density functional theory analysis identifies 15% Co doping as the optimal threshold for maximizing photocatalytic degradation, photothermal response, and hydrogen ...

Accelerating Surface Composition Characterization of Thin‐Film Materials Libraries Using Multi‐Output Gaussian Process Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
To integrate surface analysis into materials discovery workflows, Gaussian process regression is used to accurately predict surface compositions from rapidly acquired volume composition data (obtained by energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy), drastically reducing the number of required surface measurements on thin‐film materials libraries.

Preliminary Evaluation of a Dodder Anthracnose Fungus from China as a Mycoherbicide for Dodder Control in the US [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Dodder (Cuscuta spp.) is a noxious, parasitic, annual weed throughout most of the United States. A fungus used to control it in China was imported under permit for studies with U.S. dodder species in containment.

Strigolactones and hormonal interaction in control of branching in Zantedeschia and other horticultural species : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Shoot branching that involves development of lateral buds into shoots is one of the important factors influencing crop productivity. Strigolactones have recently been found to be involved in the control of branching, but the actual bioactive compound/s ...
