What Makes an “Ideal” Cell Line for Recombinant Adeno‐Associated Virus Production?

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Several host cell types have been used to produce rAAVs to date. Cell line‐specific traits that are beneficial in the context of rAAV manufacturing are reviewed here, with the goal of developing a consensus on the ‘ideal’ characteristics that an rAAV production host should possess (created with Biorender.com).

Ethylene role in adventitious root formation in Arabidopsis thaliana thin cell layers

open access: yes, 2014
Adventitious roots (ARs) are post-embryonic roots arising from non-pericycle tissues in primary root (PR) and various tissues in aerial organs. ARs are essential for successful vegetative propagation.

The effect of flowering on adventitious root-formation

open access: yes
The rooting of cuttings from day-neutral tomato was not influenced by flower development, nor by SD or LD treatments of them or of the mother plants. In cuttings of the SD plant Perilla crispa flower initiation and development severely inhibited rooting. Leaves produced about 61 % of the roots, buds about 16 %, stems a small proportion.

Infinite Functional Versatility, Formidable Limits: Evaluating Gallium‐Based Liquid Metals in Rechargeable Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Beyond the hype surrounding the self‐healing properties of gallium‐based liquid metals (Ga‐LMs), this perspective critically examines their functional roles in metal‐ion batteries, highlighting both their underlying merits and the often‐overlooked challenges, including non‐representative design and testing configurations, performance overestimations ...

Going from Pt to PGM‐free Catalysts: Effects of Ink Compositions on PEM Water Electrolysis

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Optimisation of cathode ink formulations regarding the ratio between catalyst, carbon and binder results in a boost in PEM water electrolysis performance. The optimisation can be transferred from pentlandites to platinum and selenide catalysts, wherein the metal chalcogenides show a stronger performance enhancement.

ARF4 acting upstream of LBD16 promotes adventitious root formation in peach

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal
Although class A auxin response factors (ARFs) are known to regulate adventitious root (AR) development through the canonical SCFTIR1-Aux/IAA-ARF signaling pathway, the regulatory role of class B ARFs in AR development remains largely unclear. Therefore,

Reviewing current knowledge on olive (Olea europaea L.) adventitious root formation

open access: yes, 2016
Olive (Olea europaea) is one of the most important fruit species in the Mediterranean basin, where 95% of the world’s olive orchards are planted, and it has become an economically valuable crop worldwide, due to an increasing interest in olive oil for ...

Confinement−Adsorption Synergy in Hybrid Carbon‐Coated Separator Enables Stable High‐Rate Quinone Cathode for Magnesium Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sulfur‐containing heterocyclic quinone cathode for rechargeable magnesium batteries is coupled with a GO/MWCNTs–COOH separator that establishes a confinement–adsorption regulation mechanism, thereby significantly accelerating Mg2+ reaction kinetics and minimizing active‐material loss.

Redistributing Cobalt and Tungsten From WC–Co Soft Scrap Toward Sustainable Cathode and Coating Materials for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sustainable upcycling strategy transforms tungsten carbide–cobalt (WC–Co) soft scrap into high‐performance cathode materials. Recycled Co with trace nickel (Ni) is resynthesized into stabilized LiCoO2 with superior high‐voltage durability, while the recovered tungsten is further utilized as tungsten trioxide to enhance Ni‐rich cathode interfaces ...
