Adventive Plants New to the Missouri Flora (III)
Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1969During the summers of 1956-1958, the writer continued the collection of material for a comprehensive adventive flora of St. Louis (Miihlenbach, 1957). Again, a number of species not previously recorded for Missouri have been discovered. Thirty-three (omitting several not positively determined) are published in the following list.

A method was developed for direct plant regeneration from in vitro-derived leaf explants of Pistacia vera L. cvs. Siirt and Atli. The in vitro adventive organogenesis involved six steps that included (1) explant disinfection, (2) the addition of cytokinins (benzyladenine; BA, Kinetin; Kin) for the in vitro installation of mature shoot tips, and the ...

The relative competitiveness of adventive plants in herbaceous communities of the Western Caucasus is analyzed using a simple mathematical model, Sa = Na(S/N), where N and S are the numbers of vascular plant species on 15-m2 and 0.5-m2 plots, respectively, and Na and Sa are the numbers of adventive plant species on 15-m2 and 0.5-m2 plots, respectively.

Notes on some remarkable Adventive Plants in the Area of Paderborn (North Rhine-Westphalia)
FLORISTISCHE RUNDBRIEFE 55 (2021), 2021The present paper reports on some remarkable adventive plants in the area of Paderborn (North Rhine-Westphalia). From a more rural appearance in the Mid-Nineteenth Century, the flora of Paderborn has developed into a primarily urban characterized flora due to a vast hu-man impact, including the formation of some highly industrial secondary habitats ...

The development of adventitious shoot formation from cultured somatic tissues of Solanum carolinense was studied using light microscopy. For purposes of comparison, callus initiation and proliferation were also followed. When stem segments of this plant were cultured on medium supplemented with 6 mg/l benzyladenine (BA), cell division was first ...

Fossil soils as grounds for interpreting the advent of large plants and animals on land
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. B, Biological Sciences, 1985A little-explored line of evidence for the antiquity and nature of early vegetation on land is the soils in which they grew. Vegetation is one of a number of factors known to play an important role in forming modern soils and soil features. As in studies of the role of organisms in modern soil formation, what are needed are fossil soils that supported ...
