Genetics of an esterase in Aedes aegypti

Biochemical Genetics, 1969
Zymograms of single individuals of Aedes aegypti were obtained by means of starch gel electrophoresis, using alpha-naphthyl acetate as substrate. Inbred lines gave consistently homogeneous patterns; earlier results from random-breeding laboratory strains had shown considerable variability. Six distinct bands were observed.

Measurement of Aedes aegypti Populations

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1967
The characteristics of the possible indices of the yellowfever mosquito, Aedes aegypti (L.), are examined. While all 4 indices give similar population values, the “premises index” (the percent of the inspected premises that are infested), is considered the best because it has less variation and varies linearly with the infestation.

Mapping the spatial distribution of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus

Acta Tropica, 2018
Mosquito-borne infectious diseases, such as Rift Valley fever, Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika, have caused mass human death with the transnational expansion fueled by economic globalization. Simulating the distribution of the disease vectors is of great importance in formulating public health planning and disease control strategies. In the present study,

The Aedes aegypti genome: a comparative perspective

Insect Molecular Biology, 2008
AbstractThe sequencing of the second mosquito genome, Aedes aegypti, in addition to Anopheles gambiae, is a major milestone that will drive molecular‐level and genome‐wide high‐throughput studies of not only these but also other mosquito vectors of human pathogens.

Aedes aegypti egg counting system

2011 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2011
New monitoring methods of dengue vector and evaluation of public policies on dengue control are major concerns for several tropical countries. Drawback on monitoring methods base on oviposition surveys are the counting process of mosquito eggs, information store and analysis.

Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti

3. Result In dechlorinated water containing rabbit food at a concentration of 0.16 g /L, both the BORA laboratory strain and the natural strain of Ae. aegypti larvae exhibited high survival rates, with the natural strain having a slightly higher rate (94.00%) compared to the laboratory strain (92.42%). Both ovitrap prototypes demonstrated high efficacy
