Perturbed cholesterol and vesicular trafficking associated with dengue blocking in Wolbachia-infected Aedes aegypti cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Wolbachia are intracellular maternally inherited bacteria that can spread through insect populations and block virus transmission by mosquitoes, providing an important approach to dengue control.

Functional Relevance of CASP16 Nucleic Acid Predictions as Evaluated by Structure Providers

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate biomolecular structure prediction enables the prediction of mutational effects, the speculation of function based on predicted structural homology, the analysis of ligand binding modes, experimental model building, and many other applications.

SPERMATOCYSTS IN AEDES AEGYPTI (LINNAEUS)

open access: yesThe Biological Bulletin, 1967
1. During the larval life of Aedes aegypti (L.), the testes greatly increase in size and numbers of germinal cells, and the number of compartments (or spermato-cysts) increases about five times, to a maximum of 24, usually several days before pupation.

WASTE PICKER’S BEHAVIOUR ON DHF AND IT’S CORRELATION WITH THE PRESENCE OF AEDES AEGYPTI LARVA

open access: yesJurnal Ners, 2017
Introduction: Dengue Haemorhagic Fever is an endemic disease caused by dengue virus with Aedes aegypti as the vector. Most of waste pickers in waste goods pool refuse fogging, 3M programme and abatization, so that DHF outbreak occurs in that area every ...

Variation in the susceptibility of Anopheles gambiae to botanicals across a metropolitan region of Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Pesticide resistance is normally associated with genetic changes, resulting in varied responses to insecticides between different populations. There is little evidence of resistance to plant allelochemicals; it is likely that their efficacy varies ...

Development of an eco‐friendly RNAi yeast attractive targeted sugar bait that silences the shaker gene in spotted‐wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study discusses a promising new attractive targeted sugar bait (ATSB) technology using yeast that expresses shRNA targeting essential genes in the fruit pest spotted‐wing drosophila (SWD). The yeast, which is delivered using soda as a sugar bait, could one day be an effective component in integrated SWD control programs.

Detection of Insecticide Resistance in Aedes Aegypti to Organophosphate in Pulogadung, East Jakarta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a major public health problem in Indonesia. Jakarta is a capital city with the highest number of dengue patients. Among sporadic endemic areas in Jakarta, Pulogadung, a district of East Jakarta, is one of endemic areas ...

Bed bug preferences for host odor or aggregation odor are differentially modulated by physiological state in various odorscapes

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The bed bug olfactory system is highly tuned to two odor sources with dedicated odor information‐processing pathways that are modulated by the satiety–hunger state. Understanding the dynamic nature of switching odor preferences at different phases of blood digestion will contribute to the development of lures with host kairomones and aggregation ...

Aedes aegypti Resistance to Temephos in Argentina

open access: yesJournal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 2008
Monitoring of resistance of Aedes aegypti to temephos was implemented in the provinces of Formosa and Misiones, Argentina, as a response to the need to improve the vigilance for the dengue vector in areas of high risk of dengue. Eggs collected in each locality were reared, and susceptibility to temephos was assayed using larval bioassays.

A LUTA HUMANA CONTRA O Aedes aegypti
