Insect chemosensory proteins as targets in insecticide resistance and development

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
This review addresses the biological and chemical properties of insect chemosensory proteins (CSPs) and presents their functional advancements, not only in olfaction but also in nonolfactory processes, particularly in relation to insecticide resistance.

Mapping the global potential distributions of two arboviral vectors Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus under changing climate

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Background Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus are the primary vectors that transmit several arboviral diseases, including dengue, chikungunya, and Zika. The world is presently experiencing a series of outbreaks of these diseases, so, we still require to ...

Coexistence of two dengue virus serotypes and forecasting for Madeira island [PDF]

open access: yesOper. Res. Health Care 7 (2015), 122--131, 2015
The first outbreak of dengue occurred in Madeira Island on 2012, featuring one virus serotype. Aedes aegypti was the vector of the disease and it is unlikely that it will be eliminated from the island. Therefore, a new outbreak of dengue fever can occur and, if it happens, risk to the population increases if two serotypes coexist.

First evidence of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in Italian Aedes albopictus populations after 26 years since invasion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aedes albopictus has spread during the last decades all over the world. This has increased significantly the risk of exotic arbovirus transmission (e.g.

Long‐term impact of exposure to Royal Guard, a pyriproxyfen‐based bed net, on pyrethroid‐resistant malaria vectors from Cameroon using DNA‐based metabolic resistance markers

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2165-2180, April 2025.
We used recently detected P450 DNA‐based markers of pyrethroid resistance in both Anopheles funestus and Anopheles gambiae to demonstrate that although pyrethroid‐resistant mosquitoes have higher ability to survive and live longer after exposure to Royal Guard, this net significantly affects their lifespan, blood feeding ability and interestingly ...
