Beach Gold and Heavy Mineral Concentrates on Tiwai Spit Gravel Strand Plain, Southland, New Zealand
The Holocene Tiwai Spit on Foveaux Strait is a 12 km by 2 km gravel‐dominated strand plain, ∼10 m above present sea level. Gravel clasts are dominated by well‐rounded quartz cobbles, pebbles and granules derived from Otago Schist 200 km to the north in evolving river drainage systems during late Cenozoic.

Cryptic Superfine Placer Gold Populations, Round Hill Mine, Southern New Zealand
Superfine (50–<1 µm) detrital gold and platinum group mineral (PGM) particles at the Round Hill mine near Foveaux Strait were locally derived (<20 km) from as‐yet undefined basement sources. This superfine component contrasts with the dominant coarser (typically >100 µm) gold and PGM particles at the mine that have been transported for >100 km in ...

ABSTRACT The ecosystem of the Manas River Basin, composed of mountains, oases, and deserts, constitutes an ideal natural laboratory for investigating surface processes and environmental evolution in arid regions. Elucidating the provenance, transport dynamics, and climate response mechanisms of surface sediments in this system is critical for advancing

ABSTRACT Fishers interact daily with coastal environments, which generate a deep understanding of habitat characteristics, species associations and ecological change. Fishers’ ecological knowledge (FEK) is therefore a critical source of insight for marine science, offering observations that uniquely complement scientific data and, when incorporated ...

Abstract Resource subsidies, or the flow of energy across ecosystem boundaries, can influence community structure and function and act as important nutrient sources to less productive ecosystems, particularly in marine and coastal zones. Coastal dunes, connected to the nearshore through sandy beaches, likely depend on the delivery of marine subsidies ...

Slope and sediment size in the development of pebble and cobble beaches with low permeability
We studied beaches composed of coarse‐grained beaches. In spite that the occurrence of an impermeable layer at a low depth that reduces its permeability, the correlation between the beach slope and the sediment size corresponds to what was expected, and the underlying and cohesive sediment reached the same slope of the beach.

ABSTRACT Glacial Lake Fraser, which formed in British Columbia against the retreating Cordilleran Ice Sheet, stored ~520 km3 of water before its near‐total drainage into the Salish Sea during an outburst flood event. Despite the impact of the outburst flood on sediment transport and landscape evolution in the Fraser River valley, its peak discharge and

Abstract The genus Kartalinia was described to accommodate a single, obscure species, Psoralea acaulis, based on its unique morphology and karyology. No concerted molecular phylogenetic studies were available for this species at the time, and therefore its phylogenetic position was uncertain.

The Length of Martian Crater Rays and Their Relation to Lunar Cold Spots
Abstract Impact‐generated crater rays are well‐documented on the Moon, with most appearing as high‐albedo streaks extending radially from a crater's center. On Mars, however, crater rays are significantly rarer and discernible only through thermal imaging due to their lower thermal inertia compared to surrounding terrain.
