Aeration and deaeration at bottom aeration devices on spillways [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1994
Aeration devices are introduced along chute spillways and at bottom outlets to prevent cavitation damage in high velocity flows. Bottom aerators are characterized by large quantities of air entrained along the jet interfaces and also by a strong deaeration process near the impact of the water jet with the spillway bottom.

Effect of Temperature Sensor Numbers and Placement on Aeration Cooling of a Stored Grain Mass Using a 3D Finite Element Model

open access: yesAgriculture, 2021
Grain stored in silos in the United States of America is generally cooled with an aeration system to limit mold spoilage and insect infestation. Monitoring efficacy of aeration and real-time conditions of stored grain is generally done using temperature ...

Air entrainment and pressure drop in low-cost ejectors [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2020
This study investigated experimentally the air entrainment and pressure drop in low-cost ejectors composed of two pieces shaped from PVC bars inserted in a 25 mm T-junction of the same material.

Aeration and hydrodynamics in submerged membrane bioreactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is already a well-developed wastewater treatment process for both municipal and industrial applications. Nonetheless, membrane fouling remains a significant problem for its wider development.

Production of highly porous glass-ceramics from metallurgical slag, fly ash and waste glass [PDF]

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica, 2004
Glass-ceramics composites were produced based on fly-ash obtained from coal power stations, metallurgical slag from ferronickel industry and waste glass from TV monitors, windows and flasks. Using 50% waste flask glass in combination with fly ash and 20%

Non-Conventional Yeast: Behavior under Pure Culture, Sequential and Aeration Conditions in Beer Fermentation

open access: yesFoods, 2022
The use of wild yeasts, isolated from different environments, is becoming the most interesting option for the production of new beers. The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential of seven non-conventional yeast strains from five different ...

Flow downstream of an aerator - aerator spacing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic Research, 1989
Cavitation erosion damage to spillway surfaces may be prevented with the use of aeration devices (aerators), introducing air in the layers close to the channel bottom. A study of the flow downstream of a spillway aerator was performed on the Clyde dam spillway model.

Dinitrogen oxide production by a mixed culture of nitrifying bacteria during ammonia shock loading and aeration failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A number of experiments was conducted in order to establish if N2O in the exhaust gas from an aerobic consortium of nitrifiers could be used as an indicator for monitoring the nitrification process.
