Anaerobic Attenuation of Diisopropyl Ether (DIPE) in Groundwater: Kinetics and Implications for Monitored Natural Attenuation

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract Diisopropyl ether (DIPE) is a branched ether used as a solvent, extractant, and gasoline additive. While aerobic biodegradation of DIPE has been documented, attenuation under anaerobic conditions (typical of groundwater impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates) remains poorly constrained.

Dependence of the number of Fe-S proteins and Fe-S families on the genome size of the organisms.

open access: yes, 2017
A) Number of putative Fe-S proteins as a function of the genome size in aerotolerant anaerobes (orange crosses), obligate anaerobes (red squares), aerobes (light blue triangles) and obligate aerobes (royal blue circles).

Impact of Antimicrobial Hops on Gram Positive Bacteria and Microbiome of Air Exposed Silage

open access: yesEMI: Animal & Environment
Spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms can proliferate in air exposed silages resulting in reduced palatability, nutritive quality and microbial safety. Consequently, environmentally friendly interventions are of interest.

In vitro activity against aerobes and anaerobes of Trospectomycin versus Spectinomycin

open access: yes, 1991
The general antibacterial properties of trospectomycin (TRO) were compared with those of spectinomycin (SPEC) in an in vitro study using a collection of recent clinical isolates: 50 Gram-positive and 25 Gram-negative aerobes and 30 Gram-positive and 15 ...

Causative microbes and antibiotic susceptibility of acute appendicitis in adults and children

open access: yesPediatrics and Neonatology
Background: In recent years, some studies have found that acute uncomplicated appendicitis can be treated with antibiotics alone. Because of the lack of relevant research on treating acute appendicitis in Taiwan, this study investigated the ...

Guanidinoacetic Acid Improves Growth Performance and Gut Health of Broilers Fed Metabolizable Energy‐Reduced Diets

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) supplementation to diets with different energy levels on growth performance, carcass traits, and gut health status in broiler chickens. A total of 9500 1‐day‐old Ross 308 broilers (equal numbers of males and females) were allocated to 1 of 5 dietary treatments (10 ...
